You should know since you stick your head up everybody's arse. Civil enough?

Yes. And I waved "hi" to you while I was up there... but you didn't wave back. You were too busy eating.

very crude and not the least bit civil, you should be ashamed for your potty mouth. Just crude and you hurt my feelings.

Its the heat and fires. SC no worries, you are doing a great job. Can't control what posters do. And the new cams are great!

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Actually....she does have some tools in her belt to make things more civil.....she just has to use them.

And so did Stalin. I'll be the first to admit to being uncivil, probably on more occasions then less, but at the same time there is generally enough spicy banter going on here to warrant it. And it goes in waves. That's why I left Pinecam and come over here. At least I here I have the freedom to challenge and debate at almost any emotional level, depending on the tone and tenor of the thread. Science Chic is fair in her moderation.

Good moderation isn't about locking threads , removing posts or banning members.
It is about gently and carefully leading a conversation to a place by which posters moderate themselves.
That used to happen here and people were reminded that they are responsible for what they post here and the outcome of it.
The above removed posts by myself are evidence that very little time is spent in actual reading or moderation of this site.
I had a lot of trouble posting here last night. The submit page did not appear to load at all.
I clicked submit 2 more times. same thing. Low and behold...I had posted 3 times.
How long has that glitch been up? Who was moderating to catch it and remove it?
I like this site....I want it to do well but I am worried that it is moving to a pretty ugly place and no one is really watching the store.
And SC.....we are stressed out with all we have gone through this summer so far up here.
It is very uncomfortable to have to worry about the weather, serial arsonist and everything else and it is hard to find information here when it is all jumbled up with other stuff and comment.
Who is watching the farm these days?
Fred....with all due respect, I disagree with whether or not things are done well or even at times fair here.
There are a boat load of bully's here who need a good talking to behind the scenes.
There are individuals who are harming this site by their hateful, abusive posts. people don't feel that they can speak their minds anymore because of this small group of folks.
I realize that I will probably spend the next few days having my (ever expanding) backside handed to me for expressing my point of view here. It has become the standard for this site.
So....to those who prefer the bully approach....have fun. prove my point!

Civility has declined compared to what? When 285bound first started? I see no change. I thought 285bound was started, for one, because you couldn't be uncivil and crude on pinecam. Not criticizing, just stating my impression from all the posts I've read here in the Campfire, Courthouse and Ring.

I rarely go to the Ring and the Courthouse any longer, except to read in the Courthouse and occasionally make a comment, such as now. My choice.

Fair enough 2wlady.
There are people who were rude and uncivil on PC and continue that behavior here.
I disagree that most members here who were banned from PC were rude or uncivil at PC.
I spoke with someone yesterday who's only sin was to post the positive outcome of a situation they found themselves in.
They had been told to not make negative comments in regards to a favored business on PC.
The poster thought they were actually moving in a direction PC preferred but were banned and had their IP banned.
The reason for this site and original belief was that people should be allowed to finish a conversation without fear of punitive action by a handful of folks in our community.
It was a nice idea in theory but I am personally starting to believe that this is just the nature of anonymous members posting in a public forum and is exasperated by a lack of intelligent and careful moderation.
The tone is set at the top. When owners or administrators engage in the behavior, the message is sent that all are entitled to the same bad behavior.
