It bounces back and forth, or goes up and down in waves, however you like to view it. Election years, bad weather, and lots of fires will inevitably make things worse because people are stressed/passionate/irritable/stuck inside. We can start splitting posts/threads out more, but that inevitably pisses people off sooooo...some personal responsibility? Asking others to decrease the name calling (and nic changing, and over-posting, and trolling, and snarkiness) usually only works temporarily, how about trying some of the things in
this thread
that I posted a long while back, and just bumped again for a reminder? Let's have some fun!
I have to personally say that I do get a little annoyed when I see people say that this board is going to hell because of the posters in this forum. Frankly, I'm damn proud of this forum, and our members. 285Bound supposedly has the worst of the worst - those who have been banned elsewhere (sometimes from multiple sites, multiple times) and yet
we have
no locked threads and
no banned members. F*** yeah! So while it may seem bad, big picture: you guys ROCK!
And guess what? Shhh, it's a secret...(there's a hell of a lot more to this board than
just the Courthouse) :scared: Shocking, I know!

Did y'all notice the 11 webcams we've got up along the corridor now? I'm really f***** proud of those - our tech team is AWESOME! Anyone wanna take a stab at how long each one takes to get up, and that means not always being around to keep an eye on things here? I know what's more fun that I'd rather do

but I recognize that it's all important. If you have a complaint about a post, or a poster, there's always the Report a Post button - call it to our attention (we do get busy with other stuff, especially me as I've got this problem of wanting to take on everything to help out the community, saying No has been hard to do so I'm "task-overloaded" as hubby puts it). That link at the top of the forum asking for votes will really help out - I can hire an employee or two to take on some additional workload and provide even more, and even better, services for all of you. And give back even more to the community. (Cuz the $1.32/hour I'm making right now isn't enough for what I
really want to do).
We may have fires, and irritable posters, and bad manners from time to time, but I wouldn't trade where I live, or this site for anything. We have an opportunity to make a difference in our community through this site by connecting and sharing information and volunteer efforts, and by having the freedom to express ourselves freely. I don't know about you, but looking at the bigger picture always puts it in perspective for me.
