I don't believe legal concealed carry significantly reduces crime either. Too few people have permits, only 100K for 3 million Colorado residents, and I am betting 75% don't carry daily.

So in that full theatre in Aurora, no one else was armed except the bad guy.

And we should be grateful.... Smoke-filled theater; shooter covered in bullet-resistant armor; collateral screaming/running adults/children; totally dark except for the light coming from the screen... Yep, perfect scenario for a "Dirty Harry" shoot-out moment....

14 dead, 60 wounded. Personally I think a trained CCW person would have reduced casualties. The shooter was weighed down with armor and couldn't see very well because of the gas mask. A couple body shots followed with hits to the head could have saved lives. (One report says the armored vest wasn't.)

Then you agree with Fred? A couple of shots to the head would have brought him down.

The armor prevents a round from penetrating, not from being felt SFB. Also absent from your so-called reasoning is the effect being fired upon has on someone. Would the madman have stayed and continued his killing spree if he knew someone else was shooting back at him? To stand firm in the face of incoming fire requires courage after all. Because it didn't happen we'll never know whether we should bemoan that there wasn't anyone there capable of returning fire or be thankful. To speculate in such a manner really is pointless, isn't it?

Never really happened in the wild west. Desn't happen now even gang bangers retreat after a few rounds.

Evidently ya'll have never been in a gun fight.
