Well, there you have it....Once again, if YOU had been there, (and we measure things by what YOU would have done... instead of the other 99.999999999999999999999999999% of the population), all would have been safe. God, we are so lucky to have you as the shining light of what vigilante-ism should be.
There are examples every week of people defending themselves from bad guys with licensed concealed weapons, some even on video. So if you think a trained person with a firearm couldn't have made a difference in the casualty totals, you are deluding yourself.

I am better trained than the shooter. I know how to clear a jam. I suppose you think bad guys are mythical superheroes that the average citizen can't hope to defeat.

Just because you own a weapon and have a CCW does not make you qualified to intercede in an event like the Aurora tragedy. No one outside those involved could imagine that scene. No one knew whether there was one gunman or more, witness descriptions varied greatly about the gunman, smoke, tear gas, screaming, panic, etc. There are reasons why the police undergo considerable tactical training, particularly in those units likely to encounter such scenes. Instead, it would be more likely that a doofus like the described in this article would shoot innocent victims there.
"A licensed concealed handgun owner from Waco, Texas hurt more than his pride on Monday when his weapon accidentally discharged while he was reaching for his wallet at a Dallas Walmart store.
Police said that Todd Canady, 23, was in the checkout line when he fired the pistol he was carrying inside his pants.
“The bullet struck Canady in the buttock, then ricochet on the floor and broke into pieces,” KDFW reported. Two children and a woman were also wounded when they were struck by bullet fragments."
I found it offensive that the republican congressman from Texas and the republican leader in Arizona inferred that the victims were cowards for not rushing the gunman. They were all heroes there, particularly those who sacrificed their lives to shield others.

I'm SOOO unimpressed by this "I have a CCW and I know what *I'D* do..." Monday-Morning Quarterbacking./.Let's see who can p*ss the highest up the tree...
Spare me your territory-marking testosterone fest....
I didn't say a CCW'r would have prevented it but it isn't a un-winnable scenario.
Some of the people were close enough to have hot rifle brass hitting them. That is within a few feet and to the right side of the shooter who has had his vision limited by the gas mask.
A body shot at 7 feet on a six foot target even with smoke and only the light from a huge movie screen isn't impossible. If fact, most of us here would hit. This isn't a 1000 yard shot on a pumpkin with a strong cross wind.
