Illegal to overpay taxes

according to Mitt the Twit.

On ABC World News this morning, he had this to say:

" I'd think people would want me to follow the law and pay only what the tax code requires."
He also stated that paying only the minimum amount of taxes is one of the qualifications to being president.


There is absolutely nothing in the laws of the United States that require an individual to pay only what the tax code requires.

He also said that he did not know how much he has paid in taxes, what tax rate he has paid, or if he has ever paid less than 13.9% tax rate. And he wants to be POTUS.

I don't have a problem with people who pay just the taxes they legally owe. Do you? If you want them to pay more, then change the law.

How about people that don't owe any tax but they still file in order to get refundable credits which gives them money back from the IRS? Well, it's legal so I say good for them, not that it makes sense to me. Again I don't blame the tax payer, and the law could be changed.

I suppose if you want to pay more than you owe you could just not take any exemptions or deductions. But my guess is the IRS will later send you a letter and point out to you that you didn't at least take the standard deduction.

Did not Obama pay only what he was required to pay? And then point the finger at Mitt for doing the same?

Tell us, dog, did you pay more than you were legally required to pay? Or are you trolling?

That is not what Romney stated, his remark was that it was illegal to overpay.

I don't see how that is saying it is illegal to overpay. He just said he follows the law and pays what is required. I don't see the work "illegal" anywhere in your quote. You are making a biased interpretation of what he said, IMO. Anyone knows you can pay more, by mistake or intentionally, if you don't list all the deductions you are allowed to take.
