A survey by the Colorado Municipal League shows a majority of the businesses contacted said they are growing, but more than a quarter reported Wednesday that they are flat or below par for the year. Many have already been forced to cut their budgets this year, and they welcomed news that business may be turning around.

CML president Aden Hogan said municipalities need to continue to invest in activities and programs that help small business, promote tourism, encourage local shopping and expand private sector jobs.

Colorado Cities Say Local Economies Improving - Majority Of Businesses Contacted Say They Are Growing

Do you own a business up here and are you seeing positive growth, or are you in that 25% that's at or below for the year yet? Do you shop local? Or have you been wondering how you can help your community more? The 285 Tourism Committee of the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce and Platte Canyon Area Chamber of Commerce has decided to actively do something to help our local economy by promoting tourism - we're attending 2 festivals down in Denver to let people know of all the fabulous things going on up here, and things to do, along the 285 corridor. If you can, and want to, help, we'd be glad to have you. And if you want to work more than 2 hours, we won't stop you! tongue: Just send a PM to this nic and someone will get back to you! Thanks!

Our first event is the Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival on Friday Aug 17th from 3-8pm and Saturday Aug 18th from noon-8:30pm. Our second event is the Summerset Festival at Cement Park in Littleton on Saturday September 15 from 8am-6pm and on Sunday September 16th from 9am-4:30pm.

This is a great, direct way to help support your community yourself; please join us! And if there's anything else we can do to help support you, or you have an idea to share with us, please let us know!

Ours is booming, at this time I am glad we aren't on the main 285 hwy. We would have to hire a bunch of mexicans to keep up.
