College education and healthcare is free in many countries...And all the people in those countries are ahead of us in knowledge and life expectancy, so to answer your question- Republicans happened.
They aren't really free. 50 & 75% tax rates. I prefer doing what I want with my money whether it goes to charity education or beer.

rofllol lol their problems have nothing to do with their education, healthcare or "entitlements".
I wish we could take all of these objectivists and anti-taxers, drop them into their little individual conclaves on some island where they can hoard their money--(and their beer), absolutely without any and all services, and they can spend the rest of their days counting it and celebrating the fact that they finally have what they want--their empty wealth, their isolation... And the rest of us could celebrate their good-riddance, since by definition they would then contribute nothing to society.
