ACA will wind up costing a lot more than the military. Just ask the CBO.

Even if true, I'd rather the money be spent on our people and not on bombs.

It does. This is not exclusive to Jefferson Co.

Democracy4Sale wrote: I remember Amendment 23; and I remember the Bond Issue for Jefferson County that was supposed to come with a link to grade-improvement--"No performance, no money." Uh-huh. Ever seen a bond issue passed that was based on a trigger where the money wasn't distributed because the trigger didn't happen? Neither have I.

They've come to the well too many times...I'm going to vote against this one. They've played the "It's for the children" theme once too often.

The military aren't only bomb throwers. Saving people from pirates and helping out after natural disasters both locally and around the globe.

And I will vote against any additional tax-increases for Jefferson County....

However, in the larger context that has nothing to do with higher-education, Pell Grants, doubling the interest rates on student loans, and other grants for education being cut even further by the teabaggers.

You might want to do some research on the "education bubble".

Why hasn't anyone taken colleges to task for their inflationary price increases? And giving students free money in Pell Grants will just make this problem worse.
