You can tell many minorities are swinging over to the Republican side just by looking at the Republican convention audience. It's a snapshot of the makeup of the party.
Time Magazine’s Swampland website reports that just 46 African-American delegates were at this year’s convention (out of 2,286 voting delegates), according to the Washington, D.C.-based Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The number of African-American delegates was at its highest at 167 in 2004, 16.7 percent of the overall total.
Just a bunch of fun-loving angry white guys out at a convention... I get it...
As Republican convention emphasizes diversity, racial incidents intrude
TAMPA — From the convention stage here, the Republican Party has tried to highlight its diversity, giving prime speaking slots to Latinos and blacks who have emphasized their party’s economic appeal to all Americans.
But they have delivered those speeches to a convention hall filled overwhelmingly with white faces, an awkward contrast that has been made more uncomfortable this week by a series of racial headaches that have intruded on the party’s efforts to project a new level of inclusiveness.
“The demographics race we’re losing badly,” said Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.). “We’re not generating enough angry white guys to stay in business
for the long term.”
On Tuesday, convention organizers ejected two attendees after they reportedly threw peanuts at a black CNN camerawoman and told her, “This is how we feed animals.” Organizers called the conduct “inexcusable and unacceptable.”
Racist is as racist does... And after looking at that sea of white angry faces for several nights, the ol' "Well, it was just a few bad apples" meme grows old.
Interesting how the conservatives are ignoring the facts of the post. The OP was not on racists, it was how the Republicans have become focused on the angry white guys, and not opened up their party to be inclusive to everyone. As Sen. Graham astutedly pointed out, they are running out of white guys. There has been much discussion on this, particularly in states such as Florida, Texas, even Arizonia where the angry white guy will be a distinct minority within the next decade. One point that has repeatedly come up, and is driven home by posts by CG and RenegedCJ is the attitude of the different parties toward race. As shown in the survey in the OP, when asked why they believe blacks are more likely to support the Democratic party, the Republicans show the attitude that they believe blacks support Democrats are lazy, on welfare, want something for nothing, etc., while Democrats show the attitude that they believe blacks are supporting Democrats because the Democrats understand the issue of poverty, representing the little guy, etc. Both CG and Renegade, when discussing minorities, go right into welfare dependency, something for nothing reference points, even though none of this was mentioned in the OP.
IMO, the condescending attitude by Republicans toward minorities is a major reason why the Republican party will be mostly extinct within the next decade.

To be honest, I know that we still have racism issues in this country, but as a priority in the presidential election, I think there's much bigger problems that need to be addressed by each party than this.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
The author says it's the fourth RNC he has attended and this was one the least diverse.
"But even more alarming than the glaring absence of black people among the delegates is candidate Romney’s all-white staff."
"We are now some of the most experienced operatives in the game; many of us have our own firms or work for corporate America. Unfortunately, we are never consulted on party issues unless there is an overtly black angle or, more typically, someone in the party leadership has done something stupid and they expect us to go on camera to provide cover."
