Ryan booed at AARP convention

WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, was booed at the annual AARP convention after saying that, if elected, their Republican administration would repeal the nation's healthcare law as the best way to save Medicare.
Just five minutes into his talk at the gathering of the powerful 50-and-older lobby on Friday, the architect of the Republican proposal to change Medicare for the next generation of seniors was repeatedly interrupted as he criticized President Obama’s healthcare law.

"The first step to a stronger Medicare is to repeal Obamacare, because it represents the worst of both worlds," Ryan said as the crowd in New Orleans booed audibly.

"I had a feeling there'd be mixed reaction," Ryan acknowledged, pausing briefly. "So let me get into it."

But Ryan only drew further objections from the crowd as he provided a more detailed explanation for his criticism of the healthcare law.

I don't doubt he got boooooed. He is actually addressing a structural problem. The liberal mainstream press has done a great job scaring seniors with lies. Considering the #1 target for scams are seniors, it isn't a surprise that they have been fooled into thinking Ryan's plan will affect them, and if they truly understood that by fixing the system, what they enjoy might actually be around when their grandkids get there, they would support the changes.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

I disagree that they have been fooled into thinking that the Romney/Ryan plan will affect them, we are a lot smarter than that. What we do know is that a voucher system (without details) could fundamentally change medicare for our children and grand children, and we won't let that happen.

What seniors want is for the government to make medicare and SS viable for the future, eliminate waste, actively go after fraud, raise the cap on income subject to FICA, and stop using seniors as the scape goats for the congresses spending excesses.

Well it would have to be voted on, so what is the problem. Ob care was forced Romney BS would probably be reviewed more so it would eliminate the BS that we have in this current bill shoved down our throats.
What are you worried about?
Forced policy or something that migh actually get reviewd. unlike the we need to pass it so we can see what is in it.

Replied by LOL on topic Ryan booed at AARP convention
AARP is a massive marketing boondoggle. I canceled after the first year, and can't get them to stop bombarding me with senior offers that I opted out of from the beginning. SOBs
