The Des Moines Register endorses Mitt Romney

First time endorsing a Republican in 40 years.

The Des Moines Register endorsement: Mitt Romney offers a fresh economic vision

Now, in the closing days of the general election campaign, the question is which of the two contenders deserves to be the next president of the United States.

The former governor and business executive has a strong record of achievement in both the private and the public sectors. He was an accomplished governor in a liberal state. He founded and ran a successful business that turned around failing companies. He successfully managed the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Romney has made rebuilding the economy his No. 1 campaign priority — and rightly so.

Oh wait... there's more... this just in... all the major papers in Iowa endorse Romney.

Romney Sweeps Major Iowa Newspaper Endorsements

On the heels of the Des Moines Register’s endorsement, Mitt Romney snagged endorsements today from the three other major Iowa papers: the Cedar Rapids Gazette, the Quad City Times, and the Sioux City Journal. Economic issues tipped the balance here, and the Gazette captured the sentiment expressed in all four endorsements:

We concede Obama inherited a heaping plateful of problems in January 2009, but we do not believe his performance in managing them earned him a second term. Simply put, we don’t believe more government, more spending and more debt is the answer to what ails us, and we fear only more of the same in a second Obama term

And the FiveThirtyEight / Nate Silver projection: Iowa chance of winning: 72.3% Obama....

Besides, I thought you guys said "Nobody pays attention to newspaper endorsements when they vote"..? Did that change somehow? Or is it just (R)'s who pay attention because they don't know who to vote for unless they're told?

Averaged polls? PPP has really gone in the tank for Obama so they might need to throw out the outliers. Denver Post endorsement? 125 wrote letters to the Post about their BHO endorsement and over 100 thought they were smoking crack.

Not sure what PPP is but the pollsters are only "in the tank for Obama" when your candidate is behind. When you're ahead, the polls have "removed the bias." You guys crack me up.

Wow, in a metro area of about 2.6 million people... 125 wrote letters, and 100 wrote counter-letters... Wow... We should alert the Media... Who knows how many letters were actually written--on both sides--that we don't know about.........or not.
