but I haven't seen a single thread here expressing concern/compassion for those involved in the East Coast 'Sandy' situation.

Are those here really that cold hearted that they don't give a damn about others?

Or is it just so far away that people here don't relate to it?

Whatever, prayers, best wishes, and whatever else I can do once the needs are known for all those affected by this storm.

There are two threads on it. And I am surprised by your assumption.

A thread in Campfire. I am worried about my niece in Brooklynn, her last FB post was 2 hours ago. Hopefully she has just lost internet service and the cell towers have lost power.

I very recently posted this in another thread but here is a direct link to an organization that is on the scene now --> http://www.redcross.org/hurricane-sandy?scode=RSG00000E017&subcode=Beta_Donations_DisasterRelief_Paid_National_Search&gclid=CL7qtdbop7MCFUZgMgod93kAdg

I encourage everyone who can to donate, I know times are tough and many of us are struggling to pay our bills but anything anyone can contribute will help those in need now.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

My son and daughter-in-law just moved Oct 15th from their place in Greenwich Village....yep a flood zone, to Prospect Park, Brooklyn.....not even near a flood zone. They are feeling pretty lucky tonight......lights are flickering, but they have supplies and water for several days. My sons office is in lower Manhattan, that they have no clue about....probably be days before he can check on it, or until one of his employees walks over there in the daylight. I'm thinking he might be biking to work, which he has done a few times.

I'm totally amazed at the images I see on TV....feel so sad for all that is being flooded, lost, destroyed. I hope this abates soon, and people can start the long process of cleaning up and sorting out their lives. I have not heard from my nephew, he lives on the Delaware Coast.....what a scary, scary storm...

Thank You!

My prayers will continue for all affected, and whatever else I can do.

I haven't heard from my cousin and aunt. She posted this on facebook 5 hours ago.

Took this at 4:00pm today.
25-35+ mph winds & rain. The River is getting angry...
Praying for the safety of friends, family & people in areas feeling Sandys wrath right now!

My aunt, uncle and 4 cousins are in Delaware and nobdy can contact them nor have we heard anything from them. I can't imagine how many people are feeling the same anxiety as my family right now... definitely a time to open your wallets and help out if you can.

I was in Harlem last month and the extreme poverty was amazing to see. For all these people on the ragged edge of day labor and recycling cans for money, this storm might just pull them under.
