Pretty sure I'll always say Christmas, in all aspects of the holiiday, including trees. Aren't there more important things to worry about?

Then why are you posting about it? Do and say whatever you want because I assure you...Nobody cares

Yeah, it's just a question of WHICH one. Personally, my favorite holy day is Labor Day.

Humorous sign.

Those aren't "Christmas" trees - they're yule trees (a northern European solstice holiday).

I don't recall reading about trees in the Bible.

Other things not in the Bible:
- the DATE
- the outside shed
- the romantic, fluffy white, pretty angels (ever wonder why the first thing they said was "do not be afraid???")
- the little drummer boy
- the Magi were in the Bible - but most scholars don't think it was during Christ's infancy.

Don't get me wrong --- I'm a Christian, and I happen to love Christ. There's nothing remotely authentic about modern Christmas songs, rituals, or even worship. Most of what we consider "Christmas" today has been fabricated out of old pagan practices.

And modern-era Christmas songs (Little Drummer Boy, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, The Christmas Song).

I was being sarcastic about Christmas trees in The Bible, but what do you make of Jeremiah 10:2-4?

In order to avoid possible church/state complications, some governments that put up Christmas trees call them "Holiday Trees" instead. It can be argued that these trees exist for the sake of a broad and increasingly religiously diverse holiday season. In that case, not singling out one holiday isn't unreasonable. Since the tree isn't very Christian, and is even arguably against the Bible, perhaps Christians should welcome the change.

According to Jeremiah 10:2-4: “Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen... For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.”

Just sayin'

I still say Merry Christmas I guess my feeling is that they should also respect my beliefs.

If I feel I could be in mixed company I might say have a good Holiday Season but mostly Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Follow these direction and you will hear it alot

Go to US STATE DEPT

Get special permission to go to Afghanistan

Get Pentagon to allow travel via military aircraft

Go talk to the men and women serving over there right now. Some on their 8th or 9th deployment away from family. You will hear it alot.

Or at least, "Get us the hell outta here so we can be truly HOME for Christmas."

Off topic: If you only knew how much I truly support our guys. We SHOULD get outta there, and let those bas***** ice themselves. They were beyond help at least a thousand years before our country was founded!
