Which is exactly my point......this horrific crime doesn't seem to mean very much to many posters here except for the effect it may have on them.

There were "assault weapons" many years before I was born. It used to be you could buy fully automatic Thompson machineguns from your local hardware store.
The AR-15 has been available to the public since 1965, but why are we only now getting these shootings? The AR-15 I have was made in 1973.
