Unhappy childhood, the list goes on, Blah Blah

What could be more negative than the loss of 20 little children and 6 adults who tried to protect them.

21 and 7 and having less rights tomorrow and possibly still watching people die.

Or one and having it be closer to home.

Which is exactly my point......this horrific crime doesn't seem to mean very much to many posters here except for the effect it may have on them.

You would be wrong, I am pretty sure many on here are defending gun rights, felt incredible pain and sorrow thinking about the innocent children and their teachers who died as the results of the actions of a nut case, a nut case by the way who should have not had access to any sort of weapons. However I will say that the 24 X 7 media coverage followed closely by those pushing their agendas have simply caused a burn out. People are starting to move on. Well most have anyway, some are still insisting on driving their personal anti gun agenda He MURDERED 20 children and 6 adults with an AR-15, and 30-round magazines of ammo, shooting virtually every child multiple times, and one child as many as ELEVEN TIMES.
As this next year progresses there are many are fully expecting that there will be proposed legislation both at the state and federal levels that will attempt to address “gun violence”. Simply going after certain types of guns, ammo and magazines will have no affect whatsoever on “gun violence”. Just looking at the latest mass killings and I would also suspect in many of the lesser publicized homicides there is a mental issue that should have been addressed long before the actual killing event.

Guns save many more live every day than are taken by them according to Dr. Kleck's famous study; guns are used approximately 2 million times per year to stop a crime. Many times the firearm is not even fired in these instances. But you'll never hear about those reported in the media or by the hoplophobes. Look at the reaction of the gun-haters when one tries to give them tangible facts - take a look at the "interview" between Piers Morgan and Larry Pratt.

No one seems to want to talk about the mental health component in any real detail - a component that has been present in many of the massacres that have occurred in the recent past - the one common denominator that consistently gets overlooked in favor of the knee-jerk reaction to disarm citizens. To me that is analogous to passing laws that restrict drivers to 3 cylinder cars that will only do 40 mph because a small percentage of drivers in SUVs or pickups drive drunk and kill people.

But hey, what do I know? I'm obviously just a knuckle-dragging shill of the NRA clinging to my bible and my guns. I suggest one read John Lott's excellent book "More Guns Less Crime". If a knuckle-dragger like me can comprehend it certainly those more enlightened and intellectually superior folks who continue to pound their hoplophobic agendas will be able to glean some useful information from it.
