From the Pentagon came breaking and historic news today as top officials announced that the military will be taking the lead in dealing with the Assault Weapons issue in America by banning all Assault Weapons from all branches of the service. COL B. S. Talker from the Office of the Joint Chiefs told reporters, “there is no reason why our military needs weapons capable of firing 900 rounds per minute when our foes are stuck using archaic relics from the Cold War era.”
The move comes amid a growing domestic debate about the role of Assault Weapons in America and whether the Constitution makes room for them within the limits of the 2nd Amendment. Many within the media have declared that such weapons belong only on the battlefield, but after today’s announcement, even that is being questioned.
Talker elaborated, “essentially, continuing to improve military weapons only serves to escalate the level of violence in warfare. Since the advent of firearms there has been a tremendous growth in the amount of deaths on the battlefield. While we don’t hope to get rid of all firearms, it is our hope that limiting the amount of damage potential we can decrease the amount of deaths from firearms experienced during conflict.”
Response from service members has been mixed with a LCpl serving at Camp Lejeune telling our reporters, “man, I really hope them Mayans were right…”
We will keep you up to date on this breaking story.
How about making conscription mandatory instead, only allowing those who are physically unable to serve off the hook? A four year tour ought to be enough to sort the wheat from the chaff, anyone that washes out goes to prison for the remainder of their tour. Send the "Mommy make it go away" crowd out to the next shooting war. Let them get a snoot full of getting shot at and being told over and over again that the Rules of Engagement don't allow them to so much as throw a rock much less fire a shot.
What is happening to this country? The collective "we" would rather surrender their freedoms than defend them, it's as if we are afraid of freedom and unwilling to accept that being free comes with perils and risks.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

If anyone sounds like a "mommy make it go away" type it is you Otis. I'm sure if you try hard enough you can find a country to live in where the military rules, it isn't freedom Otis if those with the guns are the ones who make all the rules. Here in the US the people get to decide what laws they want and what laws they don't want....they do it at the ballot box, not at gun point. You lost this election Otis, and if this country doesn't want assault rifles on the streets or high capacity magazines for sale, then that is what we will get....all decided by those the voters elected. Freedom does not mean free from the laws of the land.

But you want to tell them what they can have and what they cannot.
Hmmm
Where did I say that? We the people elect the congress and the president.....Congress makes the laws, the president signs the laws.....how is that ME telling them what they can have and what they cannot? That it's how it works Martin.
Just a simple thought from a Retired Chief, don't read to far into this. Col. B.S. Talker from the Pentagon. BS Talker, it is exactly that, nothing more. Every member of the US ARMED FORCES that deploy overseas carries a M4. Some even carried the M60 as thier second weapon. The weapon of choice of the enemy is the AK47, and old but very reliable weapon. Then of course there is the ole reliable .45. and many more types.
WOW, a true Assault Rifle! 650 rounds without reloading!
Ban it immediately for civilian use!
The Red Ryder is the the gun that got most of us started on a lifetime of shooting. Cabela's is proud to offer this timeless classic as your child's gateway to a lifetime of outdoor enjoyment. With one cock of the lever, it shoots .177-caliber BBs at a velocity of 280 fps. Its 650-BB capacity gives your youngster plenty of practice between loadings, and it has an adjustable rear sight so you can teach precision marksmanship.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
