While you morons complain about what Amtracks conductors are being paid and the cost of repairing our crumbling roads and bridges..... China is INVESTING, not spending, it's INVESTING in this....The world’s longest high-speed rail line giving blazingly fast service between economic hubs-
Bringing our existing railway lines up to modern standards would be a great investment in public infrastructure, help ease commuter congestion, and be a good move forward for a more sustainable way of living. Don't see it happening anytime soon though.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

China is doing it for economic reasons...Its an investment in economic prosperity. While we slowly strangle our economy because of some backwards thinking idiotic tea baggin ideology...
No, we are strangling our economy because corporations have a vested interest in keeping the politicians paid off to prevent investment in things like public transportation. Car manufacturers want people buying cars to drive, and replacing them every two years. Airlines don't want improvements in rail systems because it will decrease their business, especially with the hassles of security.
Follow the money instead of blaming a group of the public - they don't set the policy, our corrupt politicians do.

lol I know airline lobbyists..They don't ask our government to stifle the railroads system....They are too busy trying to cut eachothers (other airlines) throats, and backing legistlation that weakens labor unions... And I have been the ONLY..THE ONLY proponant of Campaingn finance reform here...I really hate it when I say something for years and years here, then later on someone brings it up to me as if they are tellin me something new....Tower Monkeys the worst at that. Do you people ever read other peoples posts?
And furthermore SC...the rebulican party stifles any government investment or as they like to call it, "spending" in anything other than weapons of war...You gonna deny that now? Its their ideology, and last time I checked they do have some influence on how the country is run- So get off that fence SC
but, yes..I reteriate for the 3000th time.. Campaign finance reform would give us back our government...

Youre a little like my sister SC...5 Masters degrees but she's as dumb as a stump lacking any street smarts or anything remotely resembling common sense.
lol The ONLY proponent of campaign finance reform? tongue: Care to do a search on that darlin'?
What about the federal bailout of the big car manufacturers and banks? Was it only Democrats that voted for that? I haven't checked the votes for and against by party, but off the top of my head I'd guess that it was voted on by both.

We all know social retards like this....They can't wait for you to stop talking so they can say whatever they want to say next..You can see it in their faces.....They don't listen to anybody and see a conversation as some sort of way to show how smart they think they are...
I call it the 285Bound Syndrome.
And I usually just don't ever talk to people like that...
Okay, if you wanna talk about investing in public transportation, or campaign finance reform, fine. If all you want to do is insult other posters, and my business, you know where the Ring is. Sheesh.

There's a reason we don't invest in public transportation of infrastructure SC.....You brought up corporate influence as the reason...Although I agree with you that corporate money stifles progress, inovation and just about anything thats good for "we the people" I think the Republican ideology is the main reason for our crumbling infrastructure..They'd rather build bombs than roads and they'd rather build aircraft carriers and obsolete long range bombers than a rail system...Democrats for years have tried to shift government spending away from the Military Industrial complex....and back to things we really need
VL needs to look deeper. The Economist did a piece on bullet trains and they are all big money losers. Sexy playtoys for nations wanting to show off. China is actually looking at not making any more high speed rail. Instead increasing regular rail service cheaper and moves many more people. For the US trains make sense for freight and planes for people.
