We're talking about HUNDREDS of vulnerable and defenseless children stuffed into a confined area. That's much different than your or I walking down the street. If someone wants to inflict ultimate damage and terror (as these killers do), these schools are like big barrels full of fish.
Parents also don't have the opportunity to protect their children like they do outside the school.

Plus I would think a police officer at local high schools would be very useful for more than just shooting it out with psychos. Busting underage smokers, breaking up fights, etc.
Probably a better use of our tax dollars than a Morrison cop with a radar gun nailing people on 285.

Yep, the police officer at Columbine was very effective. Just how effective would a police officer have been at Sandy Hook. 20 six year kids were slaughtered within 30 seconds of him opening fire. How long would the response had been assuming the police officer was near the entrance of the school? Five minutes, three minutes? The officer would have to recognize the situation, locate the situation, run to the site, and then what? Run into a school room, guns blazing?

Imagine if every teacher in every school had the same basic gun training as a cop. These cop/teachers would not only deter mass killers from attempting a massacre, but they could also have the skills to work as security guards during the summer. And just think about how much more well behaved some of these little bastards would be if they had a uniformed officer teaching the class. Even if only half the teachers (or janitors, or administrators) were willing to carry, that would certainly be a big deterent for would be killers imo.

Well I didn't have a choice to pay more TSA taxes so people that fly around the planet can. Protection in Schools even for people that don't have children in them IMO wouldn't be an unrealistic request of services provided by Government.
I haven't heard much about other protection devices that must all ready be in the hands of many Teachers like Tasers and Mace?

Conifer high school already has a dedicated resource officer, with his own office at the school. That's part of your taxes are already paying for.
