It beckons back to the Crusades, or just after 9/11 when Bush used the term.

As Europeans wait to see how the United States is planning to retaliate for last week's attacks on Washington and New York, there is growing anxiety here about the tone of American war rhetoric.

President Bush's reference to a "crusade" against terrorism, which passed almost unnoticed by Americans, rang alarm bells in Europe. It raised fears that the terrorist attacks could spark a 'clash of civilizations' between Christians and Muslims, sowing fresh winds of hatred and mistrust.

I had forgot about W's crusade comments, but a jihad has come to mean a religious war, a crusade.

Per The Economist.......(and other sources) THIS attack is directly related to the French (and ultimately OUR)dealings in Mali......pay
back is a bitch and so it goes......IF you elect to muck around in OTHER countries affairs, eventually it WILL come back and bite you
in the butt. JMO RIGHT NOW, things are EXTREMELY FLUID, and to expect answers in real time is NOT realistic.

I don't think this situation rises to the same amount of concern for Obama, as say the "Beer Summit" or the killing of Trevon Martin. Those cases really did require Obama to speak to the American people asap. I'm not saying Obama has to speak about every bad event that happens, but it is interesting to see which one's he picks.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

You mean the same BP that killed 11 workers on its Gulf oil platform because it didn't want to spend any money worker-safety?...THAT BP?

Yeah, it's a shame they didn't spend enough money to protect their workers in this case as well...

...

Oh, and yeah, I guess I condemn the attack on them too....

IF you have worked in corporate America, you have the understanding that UNTIL information is concrete enough to make a statement,
you are wise to REMAIN silent......(NOT saying it is right, just saying that this M.O. is appropriate because things are FLUID and info
is NOT concrete........they have reported everything from escape, to all murdered,......NO information is BETTER than INCORRECT INFO.

OF course, JMO........

Plus to echo H.A., when your sources are anti-western terrorists, how much do you really trust what they say? Better to spend some time getting as much info as possible.

Yeah, kind of like if an American diplomatic-station is overrun by terrorists... "NO information is BETTER than INCORRECT INFO."

Makes sense to me.
