Are you referring to Bengazi?........IF you are, HERE'S THE REAL STORY according to the WSJ.....( which I have NOT seen any commentary from the MSM)/......WSJ......State Dept. and the CIA had SECRET botched deal for Benghazi security. It was A FUBAR....

Back to the OP. It turns out the reason the White House didn't say anything from the get go is apparently because Algeria conducted this operation without US input or knowledge and kept the U.S. out of the loop on what was happening.
Even Algeria released conflicting information on the outcome of the raid.
