Saw the movie last night and found the torture scenes brutal. Really made you think about what kind of people can do this to other humans. The movie even hinted that the Americans doing this suffered their own trauma. The movie is up for an Oscar but both Martin Sheen and Ed Asher think people should not vote for this film because it implies that torture was effective rather than artistic merit. Shouldn't the film be judged more on its artistic merits than political correctness.

The torture issue is PRIMARY,but many will NOT debate the issue.......the reason is simply,we, as a society, believe the end justifies the
means. (security, which is an illusion, will always trump integrity)

The SECOND reason this movie is a must see........Jesscia Justains' character is a REAL person, who PRESENTLY works in our gov.
intell/counter intelligence industry......SHE is the real hero in this film and can NOT be interviewed/seen. I have read "No Easy Day"POV
from the Seal who was ACTUALLY present during the raid and was point man for the killing of OBL. Would LOVE to read a book from
the FEMALE whose singular purpose in life was to find/capture/kill OBL.

Would someone please inform Martin Sheen and Ed Asher that their great Commander in Chief wouldn't of had this kill if it wasn't for the torture. I hit the floor laughing when I see liberals paint themselves into a corner like this. What does Martin Sheen and Ed Asher suggest? That we politely ask the terrorists to reveal their secrets.

Maya/Jessica did an awesome job showing the dedication these people have to their job.

I DON'T consider myself a liberal, what I DO consider is security is an illusion and evidence is beginning to show that intell derived
from torture is questionable and "iffy" at best.

When you OPEN this can of worms YOU (collectively) OPEN our soldiers to the SAME treatment.......hey, but, THAT'S ok huh,.....
since the VAST majority of men/women are NOT in the military...... :faint:

The way the Americans were torturing in the movie did make sense. Confirming with other sources what they were told. And torture makes them treat our troops worse?

Maybe. But I think our terrorist enemies aren't exactly the kind to follow the Geneva convention.
I do think some of the abuses that happened at Gitmo and elsewhere to people who were actually innocent did inspire more people to join AQ.
Especially when these innocents were released and told their stories back home

The sequel to this movie will highlight how we've "progressed" beyond the horrors of scaring the living crap out of terrorists to get information into humanely and heroically vaporizing them with unarmed drones (collateral innnocent deaths be damned). What would be a good catchy name for this sequel?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

So what does that mean? We should torture and then kill them instead of release them, even if they are innocent?

No, just kill them without a trial.

I honestly don't know what to do with the innocents falsely imprisoned at Gitmo. By now, they hate us, but it is unfair to detain them forever for doing nothing.
