Just because some people are resigned to being second class citizens doesn't make it acceptable. All law abiding citizens should be afforded the same rights under law. Nothing less is acceptable.
Surprised that the liberal Colorado Supreme Court hasn't taken on the Centennial State version of DOMA.
Maybe they just need someone to contest it and bring it forward for review?

I too have met some scary people but IMO they are not calling the shots. Given where the social pendulum is I do not think they have a snowballs chance in hell of calling the shots for at least 3 generations and at that only with some sort of extreme upheaval.
I do see that if I were completely wrong it would not change my life and why it is so much more of a priority to people who do not swing my way.
I have to retreat to my bunker mentality and insist that none of this matters if the country blows up with hyperinflation.

Should the LGBT community try to put up to the voters another amendment to change the first one that defined marriage as only between a man and a woman? Think it would pass now? A number of what I consider more socially conservative states have approved same sex marriage.

Just heard on 9News that two people from Gunnison filed a ballot question that would define marriage as between a man and a woman or two men or two women. It's not yet approved for signature collection. The soonest it could be done is the Nov. 2013 general election, per Pat Steadman - (D) Denver
A bill allowing gay couples to form civil unions passed the Senate this morning on a 21-14 with Sen. Ellen Roberts of Durango providing the lone Republican "yes" vote.
With Democrats now in the majority in the House, the bill is expected to pass, be signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper in March and become effective in May.
