How Much Information do the Feds Already have on You?

Not that I am ready for it, but the other day I registered on the government’s Social Security Administration’s website. They no longer mail out the updates so if you want to check on what they have, you have to register. Once I got down to the multiple choice security, verification questions I was amazed how much the Feds already know about you.
For example:
You opened a Sears account in what year? The answers included several years and a none of the above.
Another question was to enter the last 8 digits of any credit card you may have.
Another was who do you work for with several companies listed. Here none of the above was the correct answer.
The one that got me was did you buy XZY vehicle in 2010? Listing several vehicles. Yes we bought one of those vehicles, but we paid cash for the car. Why would the feds have that information?
I am surprised they didn’t ask to confirm what was my latest 285Bound or Facebook post.

Shortly before I retired they started a DNA data base of all active duty and drilling reservists. It ruined my plans for a post retirement career of crime.

I have a CCW so my fingerprints are on file. Sometimes you can just google yourself and know how much they have on you.

Or notice how fast the press gets info on you with facebook, forums, etc.

:rofllol I can help you hide DNA evidence you know (I know all the tricks!) :Whistle

Grady, I think you can find all of that info you listed on your credit report (at least it shows up on mine) which I'm sure the gov't pulls.

That I paid cash for a car? Nowhere did I authorize the Feds or anybody else to pull my credit report. It's been years since I've authorized anybody to pull my credit report.

Yeaaaahhhh, that pesky "authorization" thing...didn't they pass legislation that tossed having to follow rules out the window? :Whistle

I work on the assumption that they get anything they want whenever they want, so I just keep it legal. And if I ever had to do anything illegal, I'd keep it off the grid or make it as public as possible depending on what it is...

The vehicle thing...did you register and tag it? I believe the purchase date is on the registration or title.

The Social Security thing is all about your SSAN...which is used when any credit card is used or any bank transfer is made or a bank account is opened or a myriad of other things (at one point, to include writing a check on a military installation)!

They've got my fingerprints, my DNA, the meds I take, and at one point the Social Security Administration keyed my birthday in wrong, so for five or so years when I filed my taxes, I used a wrong birthday! Their error...I had to take my birth certificate to them to prove when I was born to fix it.
