So being anti-gun is OK as long as he's a Republican.

OK, let me give the simple answer. Some Republicans would be fine with Dr. Carson being anti-gun and others wouldn't. The majority in red states would probably not elect him, but if he was running in a traditional blue state many Republicans might say a 95% Republican is better than a 100% Democrat.

The simple answer would have been a yes or no

I was interested in your answer, not what you think some Republicans would answer.

Your answer is way too simple. Not every Republican is anti-gun and like I said what is ok in some states wouldn't fly in others. The old line, a Texas Democrat is more conservative than a New England Republican still rings true.
Gov. Christie will have an uphill climb running for GOP's presidental nomination in places like Utah and Kansas.

My simple answer is YES, it's fine with me if a Republican doesn't agree with every issue I do. Just like you voted for Obama even though he didn't believe in gay marriage (the first election).

You can continue to assume all Republicans/conservatives think the same, and you can continue to be WRONG. That's your right.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Oh please, I never said all conservatives think alike, I simply wanted to know if you personally would support an anti gun candidate.... Which would be an indication of how important gun rights were to you. For example, I would not support a Democrat who vowed to overturn Roe v Wade.

The question is too vague for an answer. Your statement about Roe v wade is a prime example. If a republican candidate ran on a platform of banning guns, No, I wouldn't vote for them. If they were just not gun people, but they believed in the other 95% of what I believe this country needs, I would vote for them. The same with a republican who is pro-choice. Not my ideal candidate, but again, if they actually understood what this country needs to survive, I'd vote for them. Abortion has been a stick for the democrats who are one ideal voters, and because of this, our country is going down the tubes. I'd like to shelve the abortion issue. Let's keep it legal, with some limits (no partial birth abortions), but try to make it as rare as possible thru our own actions. Lets get our candidates back to doing what is important. The fiscal survival of this country, so we have something to leave the next generation.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Really? You believe that Democrats voting based on abortion is why this county is going down the tubes?

One issue voters?

I know some gun culture people who vote only for the candidate that has a better record on guns. I would presume some liberals vote only for anti-gun politicians.

I'm sure some do, but I sure can't see why they should shoulder the blame for why this county is "going down the tubes", if in fact it is.

I have multiple friends who don't care a whit about our economic situation, or anything else. They vote based on social issues only. They won't even discuss the economic situation with me. So yes, I think there are a lot of "one issue" democrats out there. On the flip side, I also know some republicans who are the same way. They vote on social issues only as well.
