Supreme Court & Gay Marriage/Prop 8

Plus which animal is old enough to be legally married? Polygamy I can't find a legal reason why it shouldn't be allowed. But in practice globally it also seems to include a lot of child brides and less rights for females in the countries where it is legal. I don't know if that is connected in a meaningful way.

Animals can't give "consent"... (Well, if you don't count Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich...)

Rush's first three wives, and Newt's first two, were unavailable for comment.... I guess Marriage being defined as "between one man and four women" is okay, as long as you do them one-at-a-time.

I can think of no reason for the government to regulate the benign behavior of consenting adults. Marriage as a government institution should be dissolved and every adult who wishes to can enter into a civil union with another consenting adult. Marriage is a sacrament, and like baptism, should oly be bestowed by a religious body.

As long as the tax/estate/responsible-party implications are the same for all, I would agree with you... But there are over 1100 Federal revenue and estate laws that are different; and over 1400 total laws that are different... If the Feds and the States treat one marriage different from another marriage, then the fight will go on.

"Equal Protection Under The Law" is not just a slogan.

Who's in trouble?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

It is interesting to see which Dems did support DOMA when it was passed. Amazing to see such a quick change in societal acceptance.

Gee, it's been even more interesting to see the number of GoTBaggers who are suddenly backpedaling because they realize they're REALLY going to be on the wrong side of history, and that good ol' "rebranding of the party" isn't going to work with the LGBT crowd any more than it is with the "wetbacks"...

Here again, you're making shallow presumptions as to our feelings and motivations. Are you capable of not being a bigot, or is it fun for you?
