But couldn't they just the cash from the ATM next door and spend the money there anyway? It's a symbolic rant and outlawing it does nothing really.

How do you know that? I not only do not know that, I do not believe that.

I base that on personal acquaintance with lots of amoeba on the right not convetional DNC group think.

I base it on countless arguments I have had on line and in person with people who insist, based on stories third or forth hand, that most people on assistance are buying lobster, going to strip joints, buying big screen TVs and driving luxury automobiles. Almost all of these people have been fellow conservatives that become quite irate with me when I argue the point. None of them have reported the abuses they claim to have seen. I'm quite frankly sick to death of it, especially from my supposedly Christian friends who seem to regularly forget the teachings of their Lord and Savior. /rant

It's so much easier to advocate for denying funds to the poor, the disabled, children etc if you can picture them as abusing the system, living lavishly off your tax money, cheating the gov't/taxpayer. Any anecdotal story that affirms that view is to be believed.....any evidence to the contrary is to be scoffed at. That way one's sense of being a compassionate good person is not threatened.

I agree with that. If one is inclined to abuse the generosity of their fellow man, one will find a way to do so.

Personally I don't see why a SNAPS or TANF card should work at any ATM, regardless of where it is. The places where the card should be accepted for its proper use it is accepted for that use. If you can't directly use the card for whatever it is that you are trying to acquire, then chances are you are not supposed to be using the assistance for that purpose to begin with anyway.

There are still 90 million unemployed adult Americans. They need to eat right?

AKA: Strip clubs, casinos, liquor stores, XXX shops, etc.
You're wasting your logic PrintSmith, and you know this, but I totally agree.

Edited to add: What's wrong with only being able to use it for food, clothes, utilities and bills in general? Never mind.....
