If they did not change anyone's status and they targeted conservative groups it was an abuse of power not about enforcing current tax law.
If you are suggesting that non-profit rules and regs need to be revamped, that is an issue we need to take up with the people we elect and the lobbyists who own them.
There are a number of these political groups complaining that their applications for non profit status are on hold.... Perhaps they have been unable to prove that they qualify. I have a real problem with non profits paying millions for political ads on TV, and so should the IRS.
I missed an option. Instead being quiet I am seeing a lot of attempts to deflect the conversation into tax code enforcement instead of abuse of power.

Would there be calls for impeachment if Romney were POTUS?
This is just what happens when government forgets they work for us and we the people forget it also. The halls of the IRS should be running red with blood. Figuratively speaking of course.

It is called free speech and a group supporting less taxes has just as much right to buy air time as breast cancer survivors.

Veterans and active duty military may also have been targeted.....our lobbies are fully engaged. Swift Boaters for sure. We took down Kerry and will do so with Clinton......she is the target but we function in an open honorable way.
We have members embedded in all branches of federal service , we vote, we share info massively.

Yes they do as long as they can prove they spend over 50% of their donations on charitable/non political works If they want non profit status. An ad for tax reform can be non political, an anti Obama ad is political. Its the law Fred.
Update: now it is revealed that the IRS was releasing confidential information in audits to political allies. Is that why Harry Reid knew about Romney's taxes?

Remember back to 2010. The White House announced what the Koch brothers paid the IRS in taxes. Obama has been working with the IRS for 2 years to wage a war on his political enemies. So now he says he just learned about the IRS war last Friday.
