Union Support Waning for the Affordable Care Act

Another union comes out against ObamaCare (for themselves)...

...that means that no matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what. My view is that health care reform should be guided by a simple principle: fix what’s broken and build on what works.” —President Obama, July 16, 2009

The IBEW is asking for your help in lobbying the Obama administration and the Departments of Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services, to work together to propose administrative regulations that will address the issues explained in this white paper. Absent administrative action, the IBEW is asking Congress to address these concerns by amending the ACA. This would reduce the negative impact on small businesses already providing good health care coverage for employees. We look forward to working with you on these critical issues.

I heard there's a new "Waivers for Votes" campaign coming for the 2014 election (my secret source).

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Great thread. A lot of unions are going to be pissed when they find their Cadillac health care plans taxes and they will have to start paying more in co-pays, etc.

My wife's MRI co-pay went from $200 last year to $1000 this year.

It will be a dead thread soon. The liberals on here won't touch a thread like this with a ten foot pole. It goes totally against their ideology. When there are major unions having second thoughts about ObamaCare, it's just best to ignore that reality.

And they will.

I would like to see any liberals answer for why these words have not come true.

Obama was either clueless whgen he made that statement, or he knew it was a lie... no other possibilities. (unless someone wants to enlighten me)

From a open letter to the President from union leaders

...

On behalf of the millions of working men and women we represent and the families they support, we can no longer stand silent in the face of elements of the Affordable Care Act that will destroy the very health and wellbeing of our members along with millions of other hardworking Americans.

We believe that there are common-sense corrections that can be made within the existing statute that will allow our members to continue to keep their current health plans and benefits just as you and the President pledged. Unless changes are made, however, that promise is hollow.

We continue to stand behind real health care reform, but the law as it stands will hurt millions of Americans including the members of our respective unions.

We are looking to you to make sure these changes are made.

James P. Hoffa
General President
International Brotherhood of Teamsters

Joseph Hansen

I'm happy to see the "useful idiots" now screaming after they spent millions and million of dollars of their union members money. Boy... the stupid is really strong with this bunch. Welcome to the real world that the rest of us live in.

Crickets chirping? Any liberals want to offer evidence that union members do like ACA?

Yes unions, "COMMON SENSE CORRECTIONS"... that's what the rest of us who are not in unions want as well. But I doubt these unions give two flips about that. Too bad, you voted the nightmare in, you get to live the nightmare with the rest of us.

So now that this union is shifting its views...

...does that mean that my view that I get to spend my own money the way I want is more legitimate?

Kinda ironic that a Union comes out in favor of people making their own decisions about money....things are definitely changing. What's next, unions supporting small business in stead of trying to drive them under....naaaahhhh.
