How dumb can news readers get?

This is actually very embarrassing and should of never happened, but amazingly somehow it did on an actual news broadcast in San Francisco.

The station claims they first confirmed the names with the NTSB, but really. Possible lawsuit?

Don't you recognize a spoof whenever you see it?

That's no spoof, they actually said it on the air. How stupid indeed.

The video looked like it could be a spoof when I first saw it too, but I looked it up first and provided a csmonitor.com link in my post to verify it was real. That link also mentioned a possible lawsuit by the airline against the TV station.

There certainly was a spoof, though, somewhere. It's just a matter of who did it and how someone fell for it.

Just to get on the air, I'd think those names would of had to at least pass by a researcher, writer, graphics person, editor, and not to mention the reporter. And then it got verified by a NTSB person who turns out to be a summer intern (blame it on Obama or the sequestration, depending on your political view) .

And to further show the video was real, here it is again with the station's apology...

The intern who was supposed to confirm this didn't.
