The NY times is going to call former Army Private Bradley Manning Chelsea.

Think this is OK? Can you publicly change your sex before actually changing your sex?

lol If the sexually confused PFC changes his mind next week, does he get his old name back?

That's what Manning requested... where is the problem? You know that he didn't actually change his sex. I could ask you to call me Roseanne Barr... that wouldn't make me a stand up female comedian.

I can't understand why conservatives have so much angst about these sexual issues?

Nope, and name changes are as simple as posting the intent in an official publication and a set period of time elapsing after that announcement, then going and changing it on official documents with the gov't. Doesn't matter whether the name change is to one that's normally associated with the opposite sex or not, it's just a name.

The question is: why now?

And of course traitors always get what they request after being convicted. Since he wants to be called Chelsea they should stencil his clothes Boris Biceps.

So what... the New York Times didn't convict him either. They can comply with his request if they want to.

Because now s/he is looking at spending a fair portion of the remainder of their lives primarily surrounded by one gneder. If'n you were a guy, which gender would you prefer to be primarily surrounded by under similar circumstances? When the military throws him in a cell with another man, Bradley then gets to appeal to the court system to be placed into a women's facility instead based on his supposed self-identified gender.

That, plus he gets to be a magnet for the current gender-identity movement to hold up as an example of how those with gender-identity issues are maltreated by our society for the time he is incarcerated for his criminal activity and a chance to be hailed as a hero upon his eventual release instead of relegated to the dustbin of history where he, IMNTBHO, rightfully belongs. By doing this the question "Whatever happened to Bradley Manning, where is he now" will never be asked - we'll all know where he is and what he is doing because the gender-identity activists will be sure to keep us all updated on his life.

It might be a ploy to get sympathy but a little late. More inclined to think it is just the bleatings of a sexually confused young man.
