Think this is a good idea? Or is the President trying to pass the buck?
"I really want to stop chemical weapons in Syria but the Republicans voted it down."
Or Republicans forced my hand, I had to attack Syria by Congressional decree.

PM Cameron lost his war vote. The first time a Brit PM has lost a war vote since 1782. I thought just the US and Obama were war weary, but it looks like the Brits are too.

Obama as usual is a wimp.......the Russians are the enemy and the whiners at the American Malls are the shame of our nation. American Military will pay the ultimate price for Cakes cowardly character....we always do.
Look at the much bigger theater....and the state of the American economy......these are far more vital than a few Sarin shells......IF MIDEAST OIL is interrupted, we essentially shut down......Cakes knows this and Putin is playing that card........

Pass the buck? Nooo, isn't the president supposed to get Congressional approval before going to war?
He's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't, isn't he? If he says he'll ask for approval, he's deemed a wimp. If he goes ahead and makes it a "military action" and circumvents Congress, he's a criminal who should be impeached. Sheesh.
If you don't want the US to intervene, then make sure your representative knows that - the public should be the ones to decide policy, and our representative should follow the majority's desire. Simple as that.

NOOOOOOO....POTUS does not need Congressional approval to engage in ANY actions he deems necessary to protect American interests......a MYTH. The last declaration was in 1941.......and we have essentially been at war since 1945 with no Congress declaration.
THIS IS A BIG MYTH.........Cakes is squirming and looking for a way out.....nothing more.

We are a REPUBLIC..........POTUS has via Congressional legislation the full authority to protect USA......recall: Korea, Nam, Kosovo, MIDDLE EAST +......and it will continue. Repeal War Powers Act if citizens want to do it themselves......

I saw a stat from Mother Jones who said we tend to attack a new country every 30 months. Maybe it is too soon after Libya to throw down again?
And is it time for the War Powers Act to be re-written? When everyone was living the Cold War, with their fingers on the trigger of nuclear Armageddon, it made sense for one man to be able to quickly respond to an attack.
Not as much sense now.
BTW, Armagedon IIRC was an actual battlefield north of Israel. Possibly in Syria...

If he goes ahead and does it unilaterally, you'll blame him for being "arrogant", "bypassing the Congress"...
If he asks the Congress, then the teabaggers will actually have to go ON-RECORD and their votes will be a matter of record... GOOD... Let them, for once, stop hiding behind their rhetoric and actually have to DO something besides rename post-offices...
