As you can imaging, Obama's speech must be getting rewritten as I speak. What's he gonna tell us this time? Will he fess up to fact that this was a massive fubar starting at the red line comment he said he didn't make? This should be entertaining at the very least but I predict he'll take some credit for Syria offering to hand over all their chemical weapons (and I've got a few bridges to sell). Time to redeem yourself Mr President... lets see how well you can spin this one in YOUR favor, as usual.

So you think he'll whitewash everything he's said for the last week? Sounds feasable for him.... kinda like when he claimed he was calling Benghazi a terrorist attack from the beginning :rofllol

I think it was simpler than that. Yesterday Kerry was asked by a reporter what Assad would need to do to cancel the American attack on him, Kerry threw out a hardline deal: Syria must surrender all their chemical weapons in a week. Putin told Assad to do it and the process started.
I doubt Obama/Putin's mini-summit had anything to do with this scenario.
It is clear the two men do not like each other. Vlad Putin only respects strong, powerful men.
And Obama thinks Putin is a Neanderthal.

The two men do not have to like each other to agree on what needs to be done....... I have found it very interesting the admiration for Putin from some on this board, gives us a good idea of what some on the right envision for America.

Yes, I don't know what Americans would admire in Putin, a man determined to make Russia better versus Barack who is uncomfortable with America's past and finds American belief that our country is exceptional to be distasteful. Putin, a meat and potatoes(vodka) guy. Obama, an arugula salad and chardonay sipper.

Sorry Bob, but I didn't even see that blog.... I based my opinion on posts from some conservatives here, like the one from Fred above. I guess I always knew that some here favored the kind of government Russia and Putin represent. I'm sure Putin would allow them to emigrate, they could hang out with Snowden.

I don't think anyone here really likes Putin for what he represents... but there is a stark difference in leadership styles. Putin managed to grab superpower status from the US when it comes to this conflict. He managed to help Assad, help Russia's interests, and make our President's desire to bomb look even more unlikely.
