Unfortunately not much, but if I was ever interested in a different church I would look this one up.

One day I was at the bank and two young persons from the Journey Church arrived and the first thing they said was hello, how are you. I about fell over. Young people not self absorbed? Saying hello to an old person? They weren't peddling their religion, just a genuine caring.

I know some people who belong, young, old and in between and are so involved in doing for others. I am impressed.

Not impressed with how some handled themselves based on the link you posted.

Some day I may check it out as it would be closer than the trek I now make. Those who do for their community resonate with me.

Good info WP. I didn't want to form an opinion just based on the article so I thought I would ask around. We are looking for a church to join.

I'm not terribly impressed. When they started work on the country store in Bailey they tried to do it without permits. When they were reported, they posted a snarky note on the front door about those who reported them and said something to the effect that they would be approved by the NSA, the FBI, the CIA, etc. They have since sold the business, don't know if they sold the building.

The Flume interview was an eye opener. They clearly are in violation of some permit-required use. And the arrogance of the young man representing them totally turns me off. If that is the church's attitude, I want nothing to do with them.

Pressed about the conflicting viewpoints on permitted uses, Coffey said: “I don’t think Journey Church is going to talk to The Flume again. You’re not even a Jefferson County newspaper.”

But that doesn’t mean Journey Church might not engage in legal battle in the county’s secular arena. “If I read anything I don’t like in The Flume there will be legal action. Whether state or federal we will pursue legal recourse,” Coffey said.

Coffey stressed that the church was the source of truth in these zoning matters, not the county.

I really dislike the attitude of "We're with God so can do whatever we please." Perhaps they haven't read "Render unto Caesar, etc."

I do kind of get a sense that they feel a little above the law.
My first initial reaction is "cult Like"
Has anyone ever been to a service at their church?

I was in the store this morning and Jim told me about the permit issue. His side of the story is a whole lot different. I suppose he would tell anyone that asks.

I'm impressed with them - I had no idea they were doing so much and I think they are going to be an incredible asset to this community over the coming years. I didn't hear anything about controversy about permits with their store in Bailey, that troubles me if true. But, I do know the person managing it now and I respect him.

Did you see their presentation at the last Conifer Town Hall Meeting? It's at the 42:00 minute mark. Pastor Cheshire's facebook posts are hilarious, intelligent, and bluntly/brutally honest - he actually makes me ponder going to a church service voluntarily for the first time ever in my life because I think I would actually get something out of his message and enjoy the delivery.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
