Just remember that in both threads, the exaggerated generalizations are just that. Two accurate threads would only show what real Republicans/Democrats think about their counterparts instead of blanket generalizations of entire populations. There are far to many walking braindeads who buy into any cartoon they see on the internet.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Good point, and so few people support 100% of one party's platform.

I wonder how many folks have actually read the party platforms much less agree/disagree with them. There is plenty of blame to go around on both sides and by sniping and snarking with blanket memes serves no purpose but to further divide us and give the pols more power.

I already do remember that. Political cartoons are as old as is our nation. The "meme", however, is a relatively new social media phenomenon. When I saw this thread and some of the posts, and then saw the "Sister" thread, my immediate thought was we could have some fun with these. I cannot, nor will I, presume to speak for BlazerBob on that issue, but funny is how I looked at both threads. That being said, I also think if we open our heads, we could even learn something along the way. While humor is intended to be humor in many cases, the underlying "message" might just be something we could each do more research on to see whether that "message" merits consideration or not.

Ok, so how about you "open your head" and tell us which of the cartoons you feel are factual or mostly factual... then post some facts to back them up. To me this is just like a racist saying a certain ethnic group is lazy or criminal... and nobody here would let that slide. If you have the unique power to prove generalizations like those posted in this or the other thread, then I will concede your point about the "underlying messages"... otherwise yhis is just racist style broad brushing and means absolutely NOTHING.

Wow.....I never said any of the cartoons were "factual". I said they may have an underlying message. The creator of each cartoon has their own perceptions on the messages they are trying to get across. If you agree with those messages, fine. If not, that's fine, too. As I've already said, and will say again, I saw these two threads and thought they'd be fun. You seem to be trying awfully hard to make them not so much.

I see, so if I dug through your library of past comments on this and other forums, I won't find blanket generalizations that mimic the memes you don't see as factual? My memory is pretty good Z, this won't be difficult.

The same might also be said of you. The truth is, I didn't say what you are accusing me of in this forum, the word "this" forum being the key operative word here. The rest doesn't matter.

I'll say it again - you seem to want to persist in taking the fun out of something. The question is why?

All I did was ask you a reasonable and relevant question. The topic is about how Democrats see Republicans, and I just wanted to know if you believed what you posted. You either do or you don't and if there is anything there they you do agree with, I'm just interested to know why. Isn't that the point of these forums... to understand how the other side thinks?

Reading written words sometimes makes it really difficult to ascertain whether the one posting is joking, believes wholeheartedly what they are posting, or are just bringing it up as something else to think about. Me personally, I'd rather assume the best than the worst, have some fun with it, and discuss the topic/subject matter at hand rather than each other. Can we try that please?

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
