[bluebox=:10y53ohv]9 Out Of 10 Americans Are Completely Wrong About This Mind-Blowing Fact[/bluebox:10y53ohv]

This pretty much speaks for itself. At 1:05, I get a rude awakening. At 1:41, he starts talking about you. At 2:24, he says a bad word. At 3:50, he kind of breaks my brain. At 4:50, he lets you know how broke you really are. At 5:20, he rubs it in. And at 5:50, he points out that reality isn't close to what we think it is.

I heard on KNUS this morning, in the 1960's the minimum wage was $1.25 an hour. That $1.25 would be $20 today. Imagine how much fewer people would be on food stamps and welfare if they were getting paid that much and above an hour.
But how many of those jobs would go overseas to people still getting paid $1.25 an hour, much less than the current minimum wage.

And what have we accomplished by keeping the minimum wage low in this country? American workers are making wages like they live in a third world country, and the jobs are still going overseas.

And how many more jobs will be lost if we were to double the minimum wage? Or would that inspire businesses to hire? A big part of the problem is that we have increasingly low skilled population that doesn't merit higher pay.

But I'm sure dumping more money into our current education system would fix that. :sarcasm:

So what's your solution and how would that solution play out?

IMO, the discussion is not about EARNING higher pay, it is about being ENTITLED to higher pay. If the employer does not get at least as much return for having the employee on the payroll as the employee costs the employer, the employee is overpaid, whatever the employee is being paid.

Also, IMO, a large part of the problem is forcing employers to spend $$ to comply with BS regulations that do nothing useful, but make some people feel good. The $$ wasted in this manner reduce the $$ the employer has available to pay to employees.

I work for a manufacturer. And the South has been luring manufacturing from Europe and Japan partly due to lower taxes less regulation and lower wages. VL is once again wrong.
