The Obama administration fixes ACA website - it's fine now

AGAIN, my understanding......when you shop at the grocery store,THAT information is all captured (via your reward card).....that is how the corp office gauges their customer base and
how to market the items most efficiently......demographics play a huge part in marketing techniques and what is put on shelves.....there is NO real privacy anymore because computers
have made vast inroads into capturing information.....the above is a mundane application of
what Obamacare is on a complex level. JMO

Yes, you do have to provide some personal info when you SIGN UP for health insurance. Though you don't usually need to provide much financial info (or info about others in your home). You could at least look at the policy details and prices without providing any personal info.

I'm talking about simply shopping for Obamacare insurance. Why be forced to provide all that private info just to see the policies and prices? I can determine if I qualify for subsidies at a later time after I see the prices and details first. That's how it's being done in Colorado at least.

If you go to the page, they put a new button on the page about 3 days ago... "see plans now." You can do this without entering any personal information.

They want this information from you so they can see if it matches with information they already have on you such as IRS info, credit ratings, employment info.

You enter info, they pass it on to the IRS, Equifax (sp?), homeland security etc, all through the EID which is like a traffic cop, routing info to and from the respective agencies and companies.

It's all a validation check against existing data. If what you are giving them is not secure, then nothing in the various federal databases and private companies like Equifax are secure (and that is another story in itself).

I don't see this as a problem.

Well according to the NBC new report I saw and the Forbes link I posted, these checks are causing additional delays in the process (just entering all that info causes delays too) and it's one of the reasons the federal site is still screwed up.

And if they already have all that personal info on you, then why not only ask for your social security number and they can fill out the rest for you to verify?

Again, I'm only shopping for insurance. I probably won't even purchase an Obamacare policy at this time since I currently have other choices.

Apples and oranges. If you choose to skip your savings, you don't have to use a reward card.
People with individual policies are being dropped in the tens of thousands and will be fined by the IRS for not enrolling on these exchanges.

(Totally Off Topic:Interesting benefit from the grocery reward cards, they informed my parents last week that some chicken they bought had been recalled. Wouldn't have known which buyers to contact without the card. )

IF I were going to do Obamacare,I would WAIT for at least 60 days (I think you are still within
time limits) to navigate the new system.....that way the bottleneck might be mitigated and the
issues re-worked and resolutions found.....attempting to access it right away, just seemed like
a exercise in futility....JMO

What "market place" have you ever been to where you need to give your name, address, names of all who live with you, social security numbers, net worth, income, expenses, bank accounts, etc. just to see the prices of the goods sold and learn just what it is you are buying?

Is that really the government version of "shopping"? :faint:

Because they have to know if you qualify for subsidies. They have to know if they should route you to your state exchange if your state has one, they have to know if you are who you say you are before and if you're eligible for the various plans under the exchange.

They can't do that without the various data points that they request from you.

This is not just as simple as looking at a catalog.

Again, you should be able to shop the policies and prices first, then determine the subsidies. Colorado gives you the income ranges you need to qualify for the subsides and then gives you the choice to go to another website (PEAK Colorado) and fill out all the other info if you want to. And based on my experience there, you need to give much more info than necessary just to determine if you qualify for a subsidy (which only requires income). They want to first see if you qualify for Medicaid which requires much more info and I think most of us would already know if we qualify for Medicaid.

And per your other post I guess the federal site is now allowing that in the last few days? I guess last night's NBC news wasn't aware of it and my link is more than three days old. So far as directing you to the appropriate state site, the federal site was already doing that simply by asking which state you live in (based on the last time I visited the federal site).

And you don't even need to give accurate info for a rewards card. You can make up a name and address if you wanted to (well, it's worked for me), not that they ask for all your financial info anyway.

Today they are saying the site will be working well by end of November. (see Fred for link)

I think I'll tell the IRS that my tax return will be ready for them by mid June. (or when I get around to it) Computer problems you know. LOL

Fair enough? :)

Re: the rewards cards, I use an unregistered one with cash most of the time. A Robo-call for product recalls sounds like a good feature though. Hmmm

Anyone is allowed an automatic 6 month extension on their taxes, so mid June will work for them. You have until Mid October. But you still have a good point, if April was the real deadline.

If they don't get enough to sign up, they will have to extend everything until they do or they'll have to lie about the math. They may not be able to produce a good website with hundreds of millions, but they have lying mastered.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
