A conservative by any other name is still trouble for this country.

Rick wrote: Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Obama or Pelosi say this:
1.The ACA will bring down the defecit
2. The ACA will help the economy

Now I've been trying to figure out if these are Obama truths, lies, or just plain ineptitude.

I can see either of the last two as possibilities, but I can't see how either of those statements could be the truth. I'm looking for someone to defend Obama here... someone please explain how one or both is possible.

Dougy?

Didn't this just start for everyone? How long does it need to be going before we actually see it affecting the economy? I guess this could be a defense, but it takes time for these things to make an impact somewhere, doesn't it? Are we too impatient in our instant gratification world?

It is too bad you can not get past that. When we talked their was common ground. I think LJ and I found a lot in common when we talked.

Conservatives are not really spawn of the devil.

Do you think the liberal administration has been doing a good job?

It's already effecting the economy... citizens pocketbooks.

Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC NEWS that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to buy pricier new policies will experience “sticker shock.”

On Monday, CBS News broadcast a report about a 56-year-old Florida woman named Dianne Barrette, whose BlueCross BlueShield policy is being cancelled due to the ACA. According to the report, Barrette pays $54 per month for her current policy and was offered a replacement plan costing $591 per month. Reached by phone, Barrette said her current plan, called GoBlue, covers doctor visits, but does not pay for many basic services, like hospitalization, that are mandatory under new ACA standards.

The White House’s PR challenge is that 5 percent of the population — 15 million — is still a huge number of people potentially experiencing changes that Obama promised they wouldn’t face.

White House press secretary Jay Carney tried the same approach at his daily briefing, pointing out that only the 5 percent of Americans who buy insurance on the individual market are receiving letters from insurers warning of policy changes and premium hikes.

I could go on but it's getting late... and I'm running out of money.

Get past what? Why do you find it so odd that I think the conservative agenda is not the best path for this country? We do have common ground, I think we both believe in a pay as you go government leading to balanced budgets and lower debt. How we get to that goal is where we part ways. I believe in balancing both sides off the ledger, income and expense, conservatives, as best I can tell only want to work on cutting expenses. I think that is bad for the economy and our future. Also, until the conservatives decide to divorce their social agenda from their economic agenda I will never see them as having the best interests of American citizens at heart.

I don't think conservatives are the spawn of the devil, I simply think they are wrong.

To continue, I am not particularly happy with this administration....I think they missed many opportunities to advance programs that would improve the economy, further job growth, and reduce the income gap in this country (and probably a thousand other things). But, I honestly believe that this administration has done more good than harm and if Obama did nothing more than keep McCain and Romney out of the White House, where I believe they would have been a disaster, I am satisfied with my vote and will be curious to see what/who the next election turns up.

Look at the budget deal back in Jan. Taxes were raised and spending was cut. More needs to be done.

It needs to be done better....not just "more". Two things I think are essential to this country's future are an intelligent balanced budget and a total remake of our income tax system.

"President Obama Establishes Bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform

Names former White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles and former Republican Senate Whip Alan Simpson as Commission Co-Chairs

WASHINGTON – Today, President Obama will sign an executive order establishing the bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform and announce that former White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles and former Republican Senate Whip Alan Simpson will serve as the Commission’s co-chairs.

President Obama said, “For far too long, Washington has avoided the tough choices necessary to solve our fiscal problems – and they won’t be solved overnight. But under the leadership of Erksine and Alan, I’m confident that the Commission I’m establishing today will build a bipartisan consensus to put America on the path toward fiscal reform and responsibility. I know they’ll take up their work with the sense of integrity and strength of commitment that America’s people deserve and America’s future demands.”...

Gay Marriage
Repeal "don't ask, don't tell"
Against prayer in schools and public places
Sex education (without teaching abstinence )
Gun control
Abortion

The liberal has a social agenda too! I have no problem with anything on that list above but I was just trying to make a point. Maybe we should have the Democrats (as much as the conservatives) abandon their social agendas and leave those issues to the state and local arena.
