Election Day Post Mortem

VA: Anti-ACA feelings let Cucinelli close a 10 point gap. Will the Obamacare debacle have legs for the 2014 elections?

#66 loss: Does Colorado really hate schoolkids? Or did 66 want way too much? Would a $50 per year hike had been approved?

Pot sin taxes: Looks like Coloradoans don't mind taxing others, especially stoners.

Hard to tell if the state moved to the right or the left. Mixed messages.

Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.

Looking forward to 2014 as the ACA continues to crash and burn.

Not a matter of hating school kids in 66. It is a message from the taxpayers, learn to use the immense wealth we have already provided.

lol On the pot taxes. It will be interesting to see if this drives it underground.

I have zero doubt... IT WILL. Personal and underground growers love the tax and hope it will go much much higher. Primary buyers/users are the same people who are getiing squeezed by Obamacare and combined with Obama's shitty job market, they aren't flush with cash these days. Growing your own weed and extra to sell is pretty easy... especially considering the grow stores are growing faster now than dispensaries. I just love watching unintended consequences of stupid government.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Do you think it will be legal to use your SNAP benefits to buy marijuana edibles?

lol Wouldn't be surprised to see some try.

Much simpler to advertise your benefits on Craig's List for cash and then buy.

#66 loss: I voted no 'cuz I didn't like the wording in it...seemed to me that if it were approved then the state or the schools could use it for whatever and call it used for the kids. And, I agree with WindPeak...use the money we already give you wisely.

Pot Tax: Part of the law that passed allowing pot to be legal last year said it was going to be taxed...and this isn't an across the board tax for everyone--just for the users, similar to the cigarette tax. There will always be underground sellers...

SNAP for MJ edibles? Can't buy MJ, either medical or recreational with any card right now--cash 'n carry.

There's a big difference between weed and cigarettes. MJ is much stronger than it used to be and only takes a hit oortwo to get a good buzz (so I'm told  ) where as cig smokers go through much more product every day so it's not real lucrative to grow and process tobacco.

They are supposedly expecting $70 million a year in tax revenue... I bet that number is much lower.

And it looks like the Dem Party lost Douglas, Jefferson, and some other counties where pro-teachers union school board candidates lost to Republicans.

And it looks like most of the people that voted for the conservative school-board candidates did so because they voted AGAINST Amendment-66, and voted against those candidates that supported it, regardless of their party.

Exactly there was a lot more to 66 than music or PE teachers.

And as for 4A it is usually always better to keep funding local. The further tax money goes away from the tax payers the greater it gets sucked up by the bureaucracy.
