AND also "asks" them to cover people who may not be covered, AND allow out of network doctors, AND cover perscripitions not paid for... more ANDS to come I'm sure.
The December 23rd enrollment deadline? Time to move that to next month. The deadline to pay your first month of premiums? Let’s go ahead and move that back too. Emergency treatment needed from an out-of-network provider? It’d be swell if that was covered the same way in-network treatments are. And what if your coverage is temporarily screwed up in January when you desperately need your prescriptions refilled? HHS “strongly encourages” insurers to pick up the slack.
In other words, they’re finally realizing that lots of people who had planned to have coverage next month won’t have it, whether because of their own procrastination, HHS’s technological incompetence, or the mind-boggling logistical problems that have been forced on insurers by Obama’s screw-ups and ass-covering political “fixes.” So now they’re going to pile another bunch of “fixes” on them — mere suggestions, wink-wink — and hope for the best, and if chaos ensues anyway in January, it’ll be insurers who are scapegoated.
Phil Klein’s right: It’s panic time in the White House. Let’s let this be the end of the “things are working better now” propaganda.
Why not just "ask" all insurance companies to just cover everybody with a blanket policy and we'll figure out how to get those pesky premiums paid later? You can't make this stuff up, but obviously the gov't can.

Gee... if the ACA is such good law, then why has it already been modify (by Presidential fiat, not by how the constitution allows changes in the law), define lawful mandates delayed, "requests" that the insurance companies break the law, complexities that even technology can't seem to deal with, incompetent project managers...
And I am currently listening to a House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing where multiple Democrats are talking about fixing the law.
Not only did we have to pass this law before we could find out what's in it, now we have to spend more money, more time, more resources to try and fix what we found out.
Who in the hell put this law together, who were the "experts" that decided that this was the way to improve health care delivery, did anyone who crafted this law have any real idea what they were putting down into law?
Obviously we've seen that President Obama had no idea about anything in this law. He consistently made statements and pronouncements that were outright wrong, he was totally oblivious to the state of his cherished website and he has tacked from one excuse to the other trying to explain the failures.
And this is only the beginning. Whether the ACA stays law, is modified, ever works out or never works out the history books will reflect that the initial launch of this Democrat law was a total f'kup.
We have to implement it to find out what is in it?
It was bound to happen that they would need to make changes, but instead of making bipartisan decisions, they just act.

HHS is also asking insurers to cover individuals who offer a “down payment,” even if that payment only covers part of the first month’s premiums.
I'm going to ask my car insurance company if I can make a partial payment and be fully coverd.
From what I've read is HHS is "asking" insurance companies to cover their asses even if NO money has changed hands yet due to their, and the Dems own incompetence.

One has to really wonder when these actions will lead to a court case or constitutional challenge. These guys are totally out of control and panicking. Ruling the country with memos, arbitrary regulations, WH fact sheets, Treasury blogs, and emails. Just amazing. Is this the USA anymore?
“We are considering factoring into the [qualified health plan] renewal process, as part of the determination regarding whether making a health plan available…how [insurers] ensure continuity of care during transitions,” they write. Which is kind of like the Mafia saying that it will “consider” the amount of protection money you’ve paid in its decision as to whether or not it vandalizes your storefront.

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
I agree LOL, this is a big deal... is this how future administrations will handle new laws? Is the new norm just to allow the president or one of the agencies to "adjust" laws in any way as they see fit? And our worthless congress will be taking tons of time off for the holiday while people (real people) in the insurance industry will probably be working overtime to patch the holes in Obama's boat.
And what really pisses me off is the total lack of coverage by CBS, NBC, and ABC. Do these networks not think this is relevant news? This law effects every citizen in this country and it should be the #1 story every time this administration changes the rules. PATHETIC!!!!

And here is a little gem you missed from the NYT...
"While these steps are voluntary, federal officials said they could consider an insurer’s response in deciding whether to allow the company to participate in the federal exchange in 2015."
