"Snake Salvation" star and preacher Jamie Coots has died of a snakebite after refusing medical attention, CNN confirmed.
The Pentecostal preacher was allegedly attacked during a Feb. 15 service with his congregation in Middlesboro, Ky. He was bitten on the right hand, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. Emergency personnel were called to the church around 8:30 p.m., but Coots had already gone home by the time they arrived.
They attempted to treat him at his house and warned him of the dangers, but he refused to go to the hospital. Authorities later received a call indicating he had died.
And let's take a closer look at our current gene pool and see how they are faring.
I see the conservatives are doing quite fine. I do worry about that liberal gene pool. Belief in astrology and they don't know that the earth revolves around the sun? Maybe some adjustment needs to be made there, but I wouldn't cheer over some liberal death.
Getting serious though, the gene pool benefits simply from increased diversity. The more recombinations possible from mating pairs, the more likely a population is to survive disease and that's the biggest killer of us all. As there is no one gene (or even only a few gene combinations) that controls intelligence, common sense, prudence, rationality, wisdom, or good judgement (or even immunity to any and all diseases), the death of one human is not going to greatly impact the overall health of the population.
What makes a healthy population is, oddly enough, increased mating between the least alike pairings. So...liberals should be having kids with conservatives, ethnic groups should be intermingling, religions should be cross-marrying, and maybe we should be trying to clone some Neandertals. :Scared:
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
JMO.....I tend to be open minded about a number of things......BUT, the warped and wrong-minded interpretation of the Bible (after multiple translations thru the centuries/eons) is something I can NOT wrap my mind around. THIS is an example of that.
I watched the interview with an associate that was in this church or one like it and his "take"
on this issue was pretty solid, it is IN THE BIBLE for this practice to be acceptable/common and
the belief that "it's God's word" is unshakeable.....he also stated that in the Appalachia area
this sect of religion is quite common....(Pentacostal?) and there are many who practice this
form of "God's word".
