Chess? I'm thinking this episode will be more of Barry redrawing the "red line" and Putin stepping over it again and again strictly because Putin knows he can. Barry will get on the national TV channels and make a few speeches and that's going to be the full extent of what happens.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Otis......right on....Obamacakes really cannot do anything useful except shut his pie hole. Putin holds ALL the key pieces and all the cards.......Black Sea is Russia's only warm water port.......Crimea is the site of a huge Russian naval base and Putin will never let it go to the thugs: that staged the coup. BTW....my sources indicate West Money fund the thugs......boy we are really stupid........

MY take...Putin has played the "board" very well and O is NO match.....the REAL question is
this...WHAT is the ultimate "check mate" by Putin?

I think Putin is very ego driven and taking back Sevastapol for the Russians living there is a big deal for him. He also loves making the US look weak. Obama just makes it easier for him.

IMHO Putin will do what ever he wants to do simply because he can. Anything Barry cautions against will become a part of the checklist of stuff Putin will do because he can and he knows he can do it with relative impunity.

Don't forget that the majority of the people in eastern Ukraine are pro-Russia and ethnic Russian, they see this "invasion" as nothing more than a return to normalcy under the old Soviet Union and most welcome this action. The minority in the west of Ukraine are the folks that want Ukraine to join the EU.

Those people who want the loving embrace of more government control, reminds me of some of our own citizens. Oh but it will never get as bad as the old USSR, we'll be able to stop it eventually. :Whistle

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Putin is playing chess with a hammer. Obama is playing checkers with a fly swatter!

But Arlen, walk down history lane.....(NYTimes piece posted on another Kiev thread)....the
actions requested might NOT be the appropriate move for THIS moment in time....(Syria,is/was
a DEFINING moment....ACTIONS were required then.....) presently, perhaps, a measured approach
is more preferable....JMO

Read your article that you linked in another thread homeagain. Obama has no choice but to do 'a measured approach' after he continues to draw the red line and Putin continues to step over it. He is too weak to do anything else. He screws up everything he touches.
