"Patriotism is no longer the last refuge of scoundrels, as Dr. Johnson observed. The last refuge now is an odd strain of racism.
The election of the first black president was supposed to end all that. Barack Obama campaigned on bringing about a “post-racial” society. Mr. Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder Jr., demonstrates how this is an administration that just can’t get beyond race, even when nearly everyone else is trying to.
Speaking at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network on Wednesday, Mr. Holder complained about his treatment in a congressional hearing at the hands of Rep. Louie Gohmert. Mr. Gohmert, Texas Republican, had chided the Justice Department for its failure to turn over documents to congressional investigators, observing that the attorney general acted like it was “not a big deal” to be held in contempt of Congress.
That irritated Mr. Holder no end. The Obama administration had made “significant strides and lasting reforms” over the past five years, Mr. Holder replied, “even in the face … of unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly adversity.”
” … What attorney general has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?” He went on: “What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?” The implication was that all criticism of the administration is racist.
Earlier presidents and their attorneys general could tell Mr. Holder a lot about “unprecedented and unwarranted adversity.” Critics on the left were so outraged by George W. Bush that the term “Bush Derangement Syndrome” was coined to describe their hysteria. Democrats gave “that kind of treatment” to Bush administration Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Sen. Harry Reid demanded Mr. Gonzales’ resignation when he fired eight U.S. attorneys in 2006. Many of those same Democrats had stood by silently in 1993"...

So the only ones playing the race card is the editorial board of the Washington Times. Nowhere has AG Holder claimed that the treatment he has been accorded is due to race. But the conservative rag somehow distorts the facts into a racial smear campaign. Typical conservative race baiting.

When you run out of facts pull the race card, no one wants to be called a racist...

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

Unfortunately, "the shoe fits" for most of the TeaPublicans, and no matter how much they try to hide their dog-whistle racism, it's just "out there" for the world to see... And trying to counter it with the lame arguments (which aren't working) just guarantees that the voters will see it for what it is.

The ol' "It's racist if you call what we do 'racist'" isn't working, and never has...and never will. It's going to hang around your necks, as it well should.

...And I want the clowns to Jus' keep doin' what yer doin' .... PLEASE.....

BULLSHIT!!!!!!! Have you even been to a Tea Party event? You trust slanted blotters talking points because you have a closed mind. I was at the GOP Colorado Convention Center yesterday and one of the most popular speakers was the African American founder of the Black Colorado GOP party. Sure there may be a few racists but you will find racists in the Democrat Party too.
