The left are not liberals SC - they are statists, and in truth have always been statists and not liberals, or progressive for that matter. Liberals believe that the only legitimate purpose of government is the protection of individual rights. Thomas Jefferson was a liberal, Obama is a statist. If calling a spade a spade instead of a shovel is deemed to be pejorative then perhaps it is because the principles associated with that group are the root cause of that phenomena. The majority of the people here are no so illiberal as to transfer to the person the disdain they feel for their beliefs, but the left is incapable of recognizing that separation. If you hold Obama's policies in disdain it is because you are a racist. If you don't agree that the federal government has been delegated the power to compel the citizens of the States to participate in commerce of Congress' choosing it is because you don't care about anyone other than yourself. The left reaps what is sows SC, it really is just that simple.

With regards to the member you are referring to here, I say good riddance. I'll not miss them and in fact believe that the loss of that member is a plus for your site. And in fine Irish tradition I offer you a blessing that your portal will never again be darkened by that particular shadow. That member brought upon themselves the caustic atmosphere they had to breathe while they were here - again, reaping what they had been sowing for quite some time.
You only catch flak when you're over the target . . .
Edited to add: I think most of those "smites" are the result of what I posted with regards to science having already determined when my life began, something that those who normally trumpet science don't ever wish to discuss for some odd reason.
Plagiarism is plagiarism, it has little to do with the political affiliations of the individual who takes credit for other peoples work. It does however call the individual's sense of honor and moral fiber into question. If I drew a venn diagram with left leaning people in one circle and right leaning people in another circle would the overlap of people who see no harm in plagiarizing other peoples work favor the left or the right? I don't know but I'm willing to bet the numbers would be close to even.
In the meanwhile can't we all just get a long neck?
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

PrintSmith, I respectfully disagree that your definition of "the left" is how anyone else here thinks of "the left". Either way, it's still putting people into a box, assigning them characteristics that they very likely do not have, and it does not foster good thoughtful, constructive dialog when they are treated as a faceless number of a "group" rather than as individuals. When we label people (and the right reaps what it sows too), we've stopped listening to them and started judging them, and at that point it's just two voices bouncing around a room with no useful purpose.
As for missing members, even before I came to own this business and had a vested interest, I missed those who stopped posting. Yes, even Outdoor338, Nymysys, Resident Troll, and Teddy. While they were guilty many times of the same thing that the member whom has been brought up here has done, they still added to the conversation and I was grateful for their viewpoints because sometimes they were valid, they were easy pickings to reply to, and sometimes they downright made me laugh out loud. The only people I personally have a problem with are those who deliberately try to harm this business, and even they are not banned and are still welcome to post here.

Start counting how many times you here someone, such as the president for one, say "the Republicans".
I have no influence on what the President says or does (wouldn't that be nice!) but I like to think that I do have some here.
Just a little anyway.
Back to the topic at hand, I agree with Mr. Wright's and otisptoadwater's assessments. Political affiliation doesn't matter, a cheater is a cheater, and he hasn't earned his position. It's quite sad that the school didn't bother to check his work.
