If it were me, I might still be hoping that they wouldn't kill me if I complied with their demands. It's obvious he didn't mean what he said, so it's a hollow victory on the part of his captors to make him read that kind of statement.

What sorrow for his family. I wish that we as a species were past this kind of brutality toward each other, it's so senseless and damaging.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

The only way to deal with groups like ISIS is to destroy them. Unfortunately, we have become far to weak in this country to persue total victory in anything we do, and I doubt the current administration has either the integrity or the leadership to effectively address this issue.

Mike Coffman said that when he was serving in Afghanistan, that they were told if they were captured by the Taliban or other similar groups, they were done for. They might as well pick the weakest one and try to take them out with them. They would only be tortured and killed regardless.

We can wish there wasn't evil out there...but to quote one of your favorite movies...."There will always be men like you", and there will always be evil men (and women, I suppose)

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Kipling generations ago warned the troops serving in Afghanistan, save the last round for yourself.

Kurdish women warriors. Read a story yesterday that the Kurds are arming women to fight against ISIS. Seems the terrorists think they can't get into paradise if they are killed by a woman. The women have to be better shots than the men, right?

If they are going to use women, why not just make bullets that have pork in them?

Sad that there has to be a video of a beheading before any serious action is taken and then only air strikes?

Per the British government. There are now more British Muslims fighting for ISIS than in the British Army.

Now, for what I'm assuming is for political gain, this administration has released details of a failed rescue attempt of Foley and others. Why do we always have to tell these cockroaches what we're doing?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Unless you develop some way to implant some electronics in all of humankind's brains and control their every thought and move, humans will always be tempted to kill humans. There is no amount of preaching, socialization, government, laws, rules, suggestions or punishments that will change that.

But our current administration is keeping the heat on IS (they want to be called IS, short for Islamic State, not ISIL or ISIS). The Department of Justice has opened a criminal investigation into the murder. Kid you not.
