Why do YOU think governor Nixon decided to hold back the National Guard the night of the decision?

Ah hell, one more.... Why did the NY Times find it necessary to print the address of officer Wilson and his family? Do I smell a lawsuit? I wish he could.

Yep, heard about this stuff on that threatening entertainment channel B)

First question, because of the criticism over the response from Ferguson PD to the first riots.

2nd question, I have no clue, would like to think it was just a f**up, but not convinced of that.

1) I think they were worried the NG might make the night much more bloody.

I think the governor, like the rest of us, has no idea what the right response is to this situation. Whatever he has tried either doesn't work, or exacerbates the situation. The protests have taken on a life of their own, no longer just a local issue but a lifetime of pent up frustration in the black community that was just waiting for a trigger. The Treyvon Martin death started it, Michael Brown's death was one incident too many. I doubt there was any response the governor could take that would be right. Perhaps he thought that a hands off approach would put fewer lives at risk on both sides of the barricades.

As for the New York Times, it's not the first time nor will it be the last that the media has put information out there that puts people at risk with no real thought about the consequences of their actions. The media has played a huge role in this unrest as has social networking. As long as they give Ferguson front page, 24/7 attention this isn't going to calm down anytime soon.

The riots and demonstrations seem to include more than just blacks. Part of it is that African-Americans suffer more at the hands of law enforcement, but I think it is also about Americans worried about the militarization of the police. Sending in the NG just confirms that belief.

What I don't get is why the civil rights agitators pick such lousy examples to hang their hat on. In both the Zimmerman and Wilson cases it has been clear from the outset that the "unarmed black teenager" was the aggressor in the incident and not some passive innocent bystander who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time in the wrong part of town. I mean, honestly, neither Martin nor Brown can be fundamentally transformed into Emmett Till now matter how much lipstick is used and Ferguson isn't going to be fundamentally transformed into Neshoba County, MS in 1964 even if Obama posthumously awards Medals of Freedom to 3 slain civil rights workers in the hours leading up to the announcement of the grand jury.
