the Tea Party is alive and Occupy is dead

"
As the United States staggers toward the seventh year of Barack Obama’s tenure in the White House, a growing disquiet permeates the ranks of the American left. After six years of the most liberal President since Jimmy Carter, the nation doesn’t seem to be asking for a second helping. Even though the multiyear rollout of Obamacare was carefully crafted to put all the popular features up front, delaying less popular changes into the far future, the program remains unpopular. Trust in the fairness and competence of government is pushing toward new lows in the polls, even though the government is now in the hands of forward-looking, progressive Democrats rather than antediluvian Gopers.

For liberals, these are bleak times of hollow victories (Obamacare) and tipping points that don’t tip. For examples of the latter, think of Sandy Hook, the horrific massacre in Connecticut that Democrats and liberals everywhere believed would finally push the American public toward gun control. Two years later, polls show more Americans than ever before think it’s more important to protect gun access than to promote gun control.

Sandy Hook isn’t the only example."...

Sure about that? Lot of the Republicans elected won primaries over TEA Party types. Boehner just ramrodded a bill spending 1.1 trillion. Looks like the moderates are still in power. Would love if Trey Gowdy took over as speaker.

ABC Skips Own Poll Finding Percentage of Dems in U.S. at a 'Record Low'

Wednesday ignored its own poll, one finding that the percentage of Americans who call themselves Democrats is at a "record low." Instead, the network relegated the survey, conducted with the Washington Post, to ABCNews.com. This is despite the ample two-hour running time of Good Morning America.

On the website, Gary Langer explained, "Just 26 percent of Americans now identify themselves as Democrats, down from 32 percent six weeks ago to the fewest since ABC/Post polling began in 1981."He added, "The number of Americans identifying themselves as Democrats has dropped to a record low in nearly 34 years..., marking the party’s challenges after its poor showing in the 2014 midterm elections."

Langer noted, "The Republican Party, by contrast, has gained sharply in popularity, if not allegiance."

What did GMA cover instead? The network spent over five minutes on a fashion make-over story called "60 Minutes to Party Ready."...

I think the GOP tracked back to the center, keeping quiet social conservatives running. Fiscal conservatism is popular with moderates and independents. If the Republicans can keep spending and taxes contained, the big price hikes of ACA will continue to bring over more Dems.

How did the Dems ever think that changing the maximum on health insurance from one million to unlimited wouldn't cost everyone more?

"Police officers turn their backs on New York Mayor Bill de Blasio as he is accused of having 'blood on his hands' over anti-police sentiments
Hundreds are attacking Mayor Bill de Blasio, President Barack Obama and Al Sharpton after the murder of two police officers in Brooklyn on Saturday
Many are saying that Mayor de Blasio has 'blood on his hands' and 'should be charged with murder'
Retired NYPD detective Harry Houck told CNN, 'I guess Al Sharpton got what he wanted'
A Move On petition demanding that Mayor de Blasio resign already has thousands of signatures
Sharpton has released a statement saying, 'We plan to hold a press conference in the morning to express our outrage and our condolences to the families and the police department'
Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik said, 'De Blasio, Sharpton and all those who encouraged this anti-cop, racist mentality all have blood on their hands'
Hundreds of officers lined the street at the Woodhull medical Center and silently saluted as the bodies of the two police officers were driven away Saturday evening

It's sad that a couple innocent cops have to die in order for the race-baiters to be silenced and or shamed, if only for a short time.

Will police back off because they fear losing their jobs and also getting shot? Wonder if the NYPD will have an un-official blue flu to piss off DiBlasio?

I'd love it... let NYC go without a full team of law enforcement for a while and watch how fast that city devolves into the pre-Giuiani days. De Blasio was doing his best to get back to those days before the help of the protestors.

If the Republican party doesn't do something to move off of center they will lose a few of us to Liberterian Parties. RINO in name only will not help the GOP.

As to your other question, people were counting on getting health care for free or for a smaller amount and didn't figure they would fall in the category of having to pay?
