If you don't HATE both parties now...

YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!

In my real life outside this message board, I know a lot of Republicans and Democrats who have no problem with their respective candidates. In fact, my own mother posts some kind of pro-Clinton article on FB almost every day. My mom is 75 years old and
she really wants to see the first woman president before she dies, and I agree, she should. But is this woman really the one you want who finally breaks the ultimate glass ceiling? Do you really want the woman who would not be here at all if not for her slimey cheating husband? Do you really want the first woman president to be here only because the Democrat party rigged the game to give her the advantage? And then there is all the evidence of her lies, her corruption, and her incompetence... is this really going to be a good role model for young women who want to swing for the fences and go as high as possible?

Now lets talk about Trump and the Republican party. The ONLY reason why Trump is the nominee is because the Republican party has become so inept and spineless that they may as well join the Democrats. Not because they believe in the same things the Dems do, but because they are too cowardly to fight for the principles they were elected to defend. Trump is a piece of shit and I can say that with all honesty. The guy got lucky by being born into a rich family and that's the only reason he became successful. He's also a world class douchebag and if I knew him in person, the temptation to break his face would be more than I could control. He's a narcissist who's ego needs to be constantly satisfied by bragging about everything he has (sounds like someone else I know). To top everything off, he has no control of what comes out of his mouth, which is usually just a lot of bullshit (like someone else we all know). Like Clinton, he really has no principles and only plays to the audience he's trying to sell to. But still, with all those character flaws, I still have friends who think he was a good choice out of the field of 17 and are not ashamed to say that they are going to vote for him. I'm ashamed, and they should be too.

So when you look at where we are, both parties produced these two scumbags but it's ultimately the fault of the American voters. "We" have become desensitized to the growing number of representatives who are stupid, corrupt, dishonest, inexperienced, perverted, etc.. There are so many reasons for our collective acceptance of such low standards in our leadership that I could go on for hours and I'm sure all of you could as well (if you're honest). IMO, the media is to blame for much of this acceptance because they are just "we the people" except they have the ability to speak to all the people. Depending on who the talking heads support, they can excuse, ignore, and explain away any of the faults a candidate has and "we" feel better about the scumbag as a result.

Sorry for the long post, but I'm just really sad about what has happened to this country and it's our fault for accepting this failed two party system that seems to devolve every year. Our debt will eventually be our undoing yet neither party is willing to deal with it... instead of being able to discuss the actual problems of this country, our energy goes to discussing who the biggest scumbag is.

The bottom line for me is this; if you feel good about either Trump or Clinton being president the day after the election, YOU are the problem and YOU need to take a good look in the mirror and honestly ask yourself if that president elect really deserves to be there. For the rest of you, I respect you for voting for whoever you think will most likely steer the country into the direction you think is the best for the country. If you are of a more liberal ideology and want to see more of what Obama started, then you go ahead and vote for Clinton. If you don't like that direction, vote for Trump (I will and will just hope for the best). If you don't care which direction the country goes in, vote for one of the other candidates that have no chance to be president.

I respect everybody who is voting for an ideology or no ideology, but I have ZERO RESPECT for anyone who votes for Clinton or Trump because of who they are and because of what they have done. If you vote and feel good about it, I really feel sorry for you and I really hope you don't spread your stupidity beyond your front door.

When this election of shame is over next week, I hope I can find a way to laugh at what we have done and attempt to discard my disgust and anger. I'm going to try anyway.

If you are someone feels good about who you voted for or who you will be voting for, please elaborate, I'd love to hear and debate your logic.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

You're preaching to the choir hear Darlin', I've been sayin' this for years. One of the FB pages I Liked long ago is If you're still voting for a Dem/Rep president, you're part of the problem . I've been voting 3rd party for years now, at all levels, in an effort to stem the status quo from continuing. I don't like the influence corporations and the rich have had on our system of government. Until we repeal Citizens United and get money out of the election process, I foresee nothing changing.

The leaked videotape of Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women, his pending RICO lawsuit for Trump University and civil lawsuit alleging he raped a 13 year old girl, his history of denigrating entire groups, his clueless rhetoric that he's the savior (not the party but him), his rampant narcissism , his ridiculous solutions ("we'll build a wall and make Mexico pay for it), his vanity, his lack of transparency, his appalling rudeness, and questionable ties to the Russians make him the least qualified candidate for President of the United States I've ever learned of. That man is no leader. Period.

I've never been a fan of Hillary. It's not her husband, he has nothing to do with it and I couldn't care less about him, she can't control his behaviors and using his affairs against her pisses me off. I don't like that she went after some of the women who accused him of assaulting them, but I don't know that I wouldn't do the same in her position if they were chasing after my man. And you can guarantee that some of those women were doing just that, it wasn't all Bill terrorizing women. To me, she represents career politician and to me, that has always been a bad thing in my mind and that's why I haven't cared for her. Power corrupts and those in office longer make more friends and amass more power.

That being said, I am voting for Clinton this year. Why? Simply put, she is the best prepared candidate to lead this country. Three things pushed me over:
1.) Trump being sued for raping a 13 year old with a witness testimony filed with it and seeing subsequent denial or outright justifications by people still voting for him - people with whom I even volunteered at JOY International with, people who worked to rescue child sex slaves still cheering on this despicable man who's now been accused by over a dozen women of unwanted sexual advances. When I see people say Bill Clinton is a disgusting pervert who were all for his impeachment, yet will still vote for Trump despite his history and charges against him makes me want to throw up.
2.) Jill Stein going off the rails with her own angry rhetoric, and her increasingly irrational policy stances. Realizing after it was pointed out that she too is a career politician, she's just failed more often than she's succeeded.
3.) the BIG one: this interview of Clinton and those who've worked with her by Ezra Klein. This right here describes a true leader. It explains why she's gotten to where she is in her career, and it's no wonder she's been so attacked - she can get things done across the aisle. She has yet to have any charges against her come to fruition. What if all those allegations stem from fear of a powerful woman rather than actual illegal activities? Can you honestly say in this day and age of wire-tapping, email hacking, etc that they can't find anything she's done that they could arrest and convict her on? Really? Can you really say that she's managed to get out of everything because of her connections or is that just discrimination and slander against her?

Whomever you vote for, please get involved. Get involved at the local level. Attend meetings, volunteer for citizen committees. Write your representatives and let them know when they are doing something you approve of, and let them know when you don't like what they're doing. Democracy doesn't work in a vacuum, and communication is absolutely essential. It's why this forum exists - to improve communication. Use the tools you have at hand!

Thanks for this thread Rick.

Great post Rick. Glad to see your still around.

In a nut shell I think the great freedom for personal achievement which our founding fathers gave us caused people to not pay attention allowing the shit bags of humanity to rise to power. As long as the cornucopia was full no one noticed. Now the bough is breaking.

Anyway it is over. Trump wins. This is the best poll ever.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Republican candidate Donald Trump has won the first round of Minnesota’s mock election for high school students, narrowly beating out Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

minnesota.cbslocal.com/2016/11/01/minnes...l-vote-donald-trump/

I predict we will spend the next 4 years hearing the dems say he is not legitimate. Everything he touches is corrupt and everything he does is a complete failure.

I will be curious to see how the pubs walk the line between agreeing with the dems and wanting to be reelected.

I have renewed hope. Perhaps we are not collectively as dumb as I thought.

Poll: Public overwhelmingly thinks media is in the tank for Clinton
thehill.com/media/303552-poll-public-ove...the-tank-for-clinton

Now we just have to worry about the 10 % who think Trump raped a 13 year old and is supported by Putin.

Um..sorry...you got fooled again. Remember last week when you were ranting about the polls being rigged? Remember something about a " margin of error?" That's the rigging. Clinton is still in the lead, perhaps not at comfortably as when the real Donald Trump showed up and made it so clear that he was a misogynist and a bigot that even some of his supporters noticed. Read something other than the alt-right media to see what is really going on.

We're not going to worry about the 20% that believe that hating women, blacks, Hispanics is a good thing. Fortunately, they won't be able to talk the rest of us into their twisted belief system.

I'm assuming you are voting for Hillary, right? Will you be happy about voting for her if you haven't already? If you took Trump out of the picture and just looked at Hillary, do you really like what you see and is this the kind of person that you feel confident in running the country?

And where did you pull that 20% of people from who you say hate everybody except white men?

Good to see you too Bob. Yeah the founders of this country wouldn't recognize it anymore, especially given the people we pick to run it. Maybe hitting the bottom of the candidate bucket will wake more of us up for next time.

Like the title of your post. Because if you do HATE both parties then you should vote for Trump. If you think that the Republican Party wants Trump to be elected, I suggest you contact Allstate to buy homeowner's insurance in the mountains. The Republican nomination, which Trump won, has become the vehicle of the demise of the Republican Establishment. The concept of Reagan democrats is going to be dwarfed by the support that Trump will garner from democrat voters. We have not bothered to change our registration but we know whom we will vote for, and it is Trump.
If Trump had tried to mount a 3rd party attack, (which the Republican establishment was very worried about) it would have suffered the same faith as Ross Perot (3rd party candidate for the Presidency in 1992, for our younger readers). Instead he brilliantly won the Republican nomination. He heads a Populist movement, whether you like it or not,
When Trump is elected President, I look forward to what the Kasichs, Ryans, Grahams, etc. are going to do.. They will be marginalized and may even have to find a real job, should Trump's proposal that no one in the Federal System can lobby for 5 years. after leaving their job.
He is crude, rough, brusque and competent, he would fit right in on construction crew in the mountains. Except that when he has a drink with you his won't be alcoholic.
To all the Clinton supporters, one simple question. Please explain to me how a 55+ y.o. couple who were "broke" in 2001, can amass a wealth of approximately $300 million dollars?

You woke up my crystal ball. From memory so feel free to fact check me but there was a time when pol's who got out of office could convert campaign donations into private funds. The law changed which allowed that and there was a flurry of retirement ahead of the deadline.

So if Trump can accomplish that there will be grace period because the rats will demand it. Then they will get out as fast as possible.
