This is where Shop Local becomes even most important. Now, more than ever, we need residents of all of our communities to support their local shops as best they are able. Our local businesses and Chambers of Commerce have come up with some clever campaigns such as Pay It Forward , Window Wednesday and Virtual Taste of Evergreen Takeout Challenge which had a wonderful participation rate, but if you have any ideas, please let us know. What would you like to see, or have offered?

Out-of-state travelers asked to stay away from Colorado until the time is right, according to the Colorado Tourism Office

DENVER (KDVR) — According to the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO), out-of-state travelers may be urged to not visit Colorado this summer.

The tourism industry has been hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic. Traveler spending was down 89 percent by mid April compared to the same time last year, according to Ritter.

Ritter said without knowing when the state will open back up for travel, they are primarily focusing on in-state travelers since travel will be slow starting and close to home at first.

“There definitely is a resolve within the tourism industry to be ready. To hit the restart button if the conditions are right,” Ritter said. “But I think there’s also an understanding and a resignation to the fact that day may not come this summer.”

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

SHOP LOCAL.  A  laudable sentiment but hard to do when the locals are shut down and the big box stores are open in Denver.
The Colorado Tourism Board is shooting itself in the head.  Message:  :Don't come to Colorado and POSSIBLY bring the Covid virus.   Come when we tell you to."   Tell that to the tourism industry.  Tell that to the fishing guides, for example, who have clients from across the nation that pay significant money to come to Bailey and fish in the "golden streams".  They also rent those cabins that you see in Bailey.  They also purchase goods and meals in Park County.  Here is their reply F/U we are going to Montana and Wyoming.
Do you seriously think that this is a position to be espoused.  Wait, you may work for the government and are still getting a paycheck regardless of what happens to the rest of the mountain community.
