Sure about that? Schools train on what to do in the event of a active shooter, you don't think businesses also have similar plans? I know my workplace had plans for fire drills, violence in the workplace, and what to do if you have a toxic materiel spill.
I bet the store manager and many of her staff also had plans and procedures from Kroger on what to do in the event of an active shooter.

Probably so, but sacrificing one's life probably wasn't one of the plans.

Agree. I know I would give it a long think before I went back into that store. The Boulder police officer who died was going into the store thirty seconds after arriving on scene. But decades ago at Columbine, police were told to leave the school building. And students and teachers probably bled out because of that decision.

No, I am not sure but it seems reasonable in light of clerks getting fired for resisting a robbery. Not to mention the liability of telling retail employees to run into a deadly force situation.
What are you trained to do?

Seems logical that a personality assessment would be part of the criteria for mgr./asst mgr. selection,
skill sets that would address this nations problem with violence. How level headed is the applicant, can they
think out of the box,our they,in fact, a LEADER within the group. This is NOT "leave it to beaver" America
that it once was, it is a nation that has death and destruction as a daily headline. JMO
Great point about how so many stores require that employees deescalate the situation and let the criminal have their way. My niece works at a beauty supply place. She had a customer ask where the hair trimmers are. She told him, he grabbed a stack of them and proceeded to walk out of the store and into a running vehicle and drove away. The policy there was for the employee to not confront the thief, the best she could do was get a description.
And I can't see King Soopers telling their employees to stop a man from shooting up the store. But management is a little bit different, more responsibility.

I'm sorry...I've tried to stay away from the Courthouse and you civilized people but....
This is possibly the stupidest thread I've ever seen. Are you seriously suggesting that a manager a King Soopers should be disciplined because she didn't confront an active shooter? Are people really suggesting that mass shootings are something new? WTH??

Oh you're not alone my friend, I've been trying to find the logic and just gave up. The only person that would have any kind of duty to stick around would be a trained and ARMED security guard. There are no "skill sets" that could defend helpless unarmed patrons from a madman with a gun, unless that person could accurately throw a frozen cornish game hen 100 mph into the shooter's head.
Please stick around PS, you're needed here.

That is logical but when has cancel culture been sane let alone logical.
As I recall the Briggs Myers personality typing was VERY EFECTIVE in identifying the right job for people.
Then the retards decided it was discriminatory or unfair or racist or somesuch BS.
As I understand it now you cannot even ask on an employment application if they are a felon. That gives me great peace of mind when talking to my financial advisor.
SO, I ask... WHY was there a suggestion floating around, that teachers should be armed and carry? OMG
Our society is so screwed, when the mgmt. of ANY store is being held responsible for some pissed off nut job who acquired a gun and decided to even a score.(FRED)....the answer to the problem is NOT
being addressed in a cohesive plan....because it is a POLITICAL HOT POTATO.
