Remember when the Chinese lab escape theory was "thoroughly" debunked? Now the Biden administration thinks it needs to be investigated. Remember the last four years where Democrats and the media said President Trump was illegitimate? Even though the election was certified? Maybe after the Democrats cast doubt on election results, it will help you understand why some Republicans think questioning a certified election is fair. And with the one-sided media thoroughly in the tank for the Democrats, maybe you can understand why some conservatives think the only way they can take back the nation is with an armed response. Note: I am not advocating violence. Civil wars are brutal, deadly, and displace people, just look at Syria.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
In 1991, with America gripped by a struggle between an increasingly liberal secular society that pushed for change and a conservative opposition that rooted its worldview in divine scripture, James Davison Hunter wrote a book and titled it with a phrase for what he saw playing out in America’s fights over abortion, gay rights, religion in public schools and the like: “Culture Wars.”
Hunter, a 30-something sociologist at the University of Virginia, didn’t invent the term, but his book vaulted it into the public conversation, and within a few years it was being used as shorthand for cultural flashpoints with political ramifications. He hoped that by calling attention to the dynamic, he’d help America “come to terms with the unfolding conflict” and, perhaps, defuse some of the tensions he saw bubbling.
Instead, 30 years later, Hunter sees America as having doubled down on the “war” part—with the culture wars expanding from issues of religion and family culture to take over politics almost totally, creating a dangerous sense of winner-take-all conflict over the future of the country.
EXCERPT from a very long article,BUT WORTH the read.....CULTURAL WARS ALWAYS PRECEDE
SHOOTING WARS...they don't necessarily cause them .but the "trend" is there.....THE FOURTH
TURNING described in another way.

SC,
Not wanting to run afoul of the moderators is it the policy of MMT that there is no need to cite one's references, rather just publish them as though it was written by the poster?
It is required per Fair Use Guidelines that anything quoted from elsewhere be cited with a hyperlink back to that source. Homeagain posted the source in a different topic, so it's been moved into this topic to replace the original comment.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
As for the topic, I can't think of any revolution that was successful with diplomacy and civil discourse. Half the country seems to want more centralized government control over their lives because they think government has the answers for perceived inequity. They seem to be ok with handing over their health care decisions to government along with what they can drive and how power their homes. They seem to be ok with allowing millions of poor people to illegally cross our borders so we can take care of them and give them a better life, while we have millions of our own people struggling to survive.
While that half of the country doesn't seem to believe in putting American interests first, the other half does. I see so many major differences in how both side think, that I don't see any good and peaceful outcome as the divide continues to be more clear. The violence is already here, all you have to do is look at what happened over the last year. The violence and exploding crime doesn't seem to be coming from the right for now, but of cities continue to collapse under bad policies and spread to other cities, I won't be surprised when a whole lot of people on the right get tired of it and snap.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
''I have this old-fashioned view that what we’re supposed to do is to understand before we take action, and that wisdom depends upon understanding. That basically makes me a conservative today—but it also makes me a progressive by conservative standards.'' LAST paragraph of the piece....which resonates with me.

Sounds great, but what if you understand something is insane and harmful to the progression of a successful country? For example, I think it's insane to let millions of people illegally jump in front of the LEGAL immigration line. I think it's insane to tell white children they are inherently racist and that they must acknowledge that alleged fact.
Many of us understand what the radical left is trying to do to this country, but why should we just accept it? I understand why the left is using race to divide us and are even using racist tactics that have been condemned for decades, like segregation which seems to be coming back into fashion. So yes, we understand what is happening and why it's happening. What too many people on the left fail to remember is that there are still a whole lot of people who haven't forgotten history and are willing to fight back against those who want to repeat it.
